Will we be forced to be Dalish?

But I would guess that the Elfquisitor is not dalish.

I'm certainly going that route if given the chance.
in fact, a Dalish mage would offer an interesting perspective on the whole Mage vs Templar war going on.
I'm sure my Dalish mage will also have some interesting convos with Vivienne ( who's pro-circle ).

Wonder if the Dwarf Inq is related to Shale.

But I'm hoping there will also be the option to be a City Elf and a Circle elf.

I know, especially if they stick to the accent lore. I would HATE to have an Irish accent. Then again I'd love a Welsh accent, but I know Welsh VAs are harder to find.
Unless you refer to rough edges of more northern accent...then I understand. My native accent is pretty harsh in my opinion.

Reading PAX related comments, someone mentioned that the elven mage will be dalish. I doubt we'd get confirmation this early in the game, but if we want to be elven, will we be forced into being a dalish elf? Although I know this isn't the case for most, it would significantly dampen my enthusiasm for playing an elf if I'm forced to be a dalish elf.
It could be a mix of people hearing different things, for I remember recently that someone said that if you are using the "BioWare choice" for a new character in Inquisition instead of importing with Dragon Age: Keep it will flag the Warden from Dragon Age: Origins as a Dalish Elf mage.

I feel alone in saying I actually liked the Andrastian / Circle / City Elf Mage. =/
I love them, that actually describes my Warden. But we haven't had the chance to play a Dalish mage yet, and playing a mage from a very different cultural upbringing would be interesting. Not to mention a Dalish mage likely has a bigger axe to grind with templars and the Chantry than most, and I plan to have fun with that.

The northern Irish accent? I actually don't mind that one, it's the other one that annoys me. Can't explain it, it just gets on my nerves, and I know I couldn't play a whole game with a character who's voice annoys me. It's why I never left Lothering with a MaleHawke. Well, not that it was annoying, just that the guy played Vaughn in DAO and I was mostly a City Elf.....not great connotations to have.

Some people assumed that Lavellan looked like a dalish surname, and from there the wishlisting became speculation and then rumour. It´s what happens when no one bothers to ask for sources.

Say walls of earth or vines for the elf, flame and ice for humans, entropy and lightning for the qun?
Prob too restricting for most players I suppose.

Why on earth would you like to play as a slave? Dalish elves are the only true elves.
Embrace your identity and your ancestors, and fight for your very survival.
I hope you're not serious.
While I don't hate the Dalish, this mentality is why I'm not fond of them either.

Not really, people at the panel asked the devs whether we can play as a Dalish Elf Mage and they were given a positive... whether that means we can't play as a city elf remains to be seen.

I hope there are different elven backgrounds for you. I'm really happy that being a Dalish mage seems to be an option. I don't share your view of the Dalish, and I'm very enthusiastic about playing as an elven Inquisitor who follows the elven gods - the Creators - and (hopefully) wants to forge a kingdom where the elves can live in peace and religious freedom. An elven Inquisitor who ventures into Orlais, occupied Dales, and Tevinter...
