We can play dwarf, elf, human or qunari. And pick gender.

Why on earth would you like to play as a slave? Dalish elves are the only true elves.

Embrace your identity and your ancestors, and fight for your very survival.

Why I hate the Dalish.

You must really hate Andrastian society, then.

Seriously, we've met enough Dalish to know that you can't condemn them all for the perspective held by some. And I fully expect to deal with racism and accusations of being a "heathen" playing as a Dalish mage in Andrastian society.

Being Dalish doesn't mean you have to agree with the opinions of the Dalish, You could have always Disagreed with them and wanted to leave and see the world.

I am sure A Dalish character will not be locked out of supporting the Chantry for example.

I willb be SOOO dissapointed with bioware if we are forced to be dalish. Not everyone likes playing as a dalish and not everyone likes playing as a city elf. Please bioware do not force this backround.

How is that any different from what they did in DA:O? If you were a mage, no matter what you had to be a circle Mage. If you were a non-magical human, your only option was to be a noble.

That's right. Honestly I don't really understand these arguments that we're forced to play as a Dalish, It's not really that much different from the previous game.

Except that's the way most Dalish act.

If you don't wish to be Dalish then don;t be an Elven mage.

I wanted to be a Dalish mage in Origins but was never given the option. Now you will feel my pain.

Why I prefer the Orlesian Warden.

This. It isn't the first time we've been locked into things because of our class/race combo.

I know I was just hoping for a blank slate.

Merril ferverntly believes in Dalish views about the elves. She believes they were once immortal, in their gods, etc. That's not the kind of elf I want to play.

Fine, but neither of those things have anything to do with Merrill being racist.

Why wouldn't Merrill or any dalish believe in their gods? It's after all only another partial version of the truth, as the Chantry version is.

That applies to any religion though.

1)It was a joke.
2)There is no evidence of existence of any deities, other than the Old Gods, which aren't necessarily Gods. Humans and elves are free to believe to the religion they wish.
3) there is no evidence in the Fen'harel=Maker theory, but the two religions have points in common. That doesn't mean that they theory is true, and that elves and humans have different versions of the same god/gods (we don't even know if a true god exists in DA world); as I said, I was joking. I just think that if the theory is true it'd be fun to see the reactions of the Chantry and the dalish.

I'm not sure if he was referring to the elven religion or the Fen'harel=Maker theory.

Ever since coming across Danyla's psycho assassin daughter on the Wounded Coast, I have secretly nursed dreams of playing a dalish elf with a mohawk. Preferably an archer rogue.

The first to the keeper can't have a mohawk, they'll be in public office soon, can't have this stuff coming back to them. It's a hunter/warrior thing.

Elven warriors being city elves doesn't really seem right, it's not exactly the kind of environment that fosters a proud martial tradition. Like the sign says people; Bearing arms is strictly prohibited, Elves who have swords will die upon them.

We have only seen a few people in two clans acting that way. We've met others who were the opposite. I'm curious, do you condemn Andrastian humans as a whole for the racism and hostile attitude towards non-Andrastians held by some of them?

Yes, and plenty of people born into religious families grow up to be skeptical.

It's reasonable for Merrill to believe. It's equally reasonable for her not to.

You know, it would be funny to see. I imagine there would be a great deal of skepticism and denial, maybe even violence. You know how some people (Ceorlic) can be. No matter what evidence you bring to the table/Assembly/Landsmeet, they simply won't believe anything you say because it contradicts beliefs they held for so long.

I'm all for the Dalish mage combo, and confess to being just a tad satisfied about this regarding all the people who apparently hate the Dalish.
