Legion was "customised". They can customize their chassiplates. Add extra's if they somehow find it beneficial or desirable..... Like an N7 jacket maybe... If they all recieved Legion's Shepard worship tendencies.

Hanar Preacher: Embrace the glory and wisdom of the enkindlers! Let them guide you.

Geth religious fanatic: The Shepard commanders code is superior! The Proteans died where the Shepard ended a billion year old cycle of extinction in but a fraction of the time.

And nothing would actualy stop them from wearing a C-sec uniform(if that would happen to be that Geth's job) or a leather jacket if they want to. Or extra spikes to look like a more terrifying pirate.

The only reason why Legion took a part of Shep's armor, was to repair its hull. Some Geth have different colored armor to distinguish between different combat units. Geth don't even have their own names(Legion was just given a nickname), I don't think they care about their appearance.

If i recall correctly when you question legion about the N7 armor in ME2 about why he chose the armor over anything else he could have used he states "no data availible" this points out that his use of the armor were motivated by more then just a convient field repair.

also in ME3 admiral daro'xen inquires about information on the geth servers and informs shepard that when she asks legion he replies "no data availible".

"No data available" would be the Geth equivalent to "no comment", indicating it's either personal, sensitive and they don't want to share or it's a secret they can't comment on.

Also, having personal boundries or saying "no comment" isn't a crime.
My interpretetion of that reaction when asked about Legions souvenir is that Legion found it's own expression of fandom embarrasing.
Many of Legions omissions regard sensitive and private issues to the Legion platform.

Also, I'm assuming Geth names would be like serialnumbers or social security numbers. It's a designation just as a name works as a designation for organics. That Geth prime that reports for duty after the server mission has a designation even if most organics would find it somewhat difficult. Maybe Geth's needs a "face name" like hanars when working with Organics.

Honestly, I think different races will only be available in multiplayer which is fine (for practicallity reasons, and it gives you a nice incentive to jump into multiplayer).

If we did have different race options in single-player I don't think they would pay for any additional voice acting so you might get the option of a turian skin for the human male voice actor or an asari skin for human female voice actor *if you pre-order at gamestop. That's about it.

Edit: If I can build my own character however I like then I don't really care as long as I can recreate my multiplayer builds as I already do with gibbed.

For gameplay balancewise it would be asari (biotic superiority), turian (martial superiority) and salarian (stealth and tech superiority), and the jack of all trades, humans.

Human, turian, asari and salarian. (4 since DA3 has 4 with the Qunari)

Krogan and quarian would be damn fun too, but I think the 4 council species would allow more freedom in a pre-ME3 story. In a post-ME3 story, I'd prefer Human, turian, asari, krogan.

Human, Drell and Quarian. I usually play as an Adept but I can't play Asari because I prefer to play as a male.

Humans, asari, turians and salarians.
The 3 council races and humans of course, because humans more than likely want to play as themselves, too.

Well my favorite species is the Batarian, and admittedly I think that would make for a very interesting storytelling standpoint if the Main Character is someone few people particularly like, but for simplicity sake, I think that the possible races should consist of the Citadel Races, Human, Asari, Turian and Salarian.

Drell and Geth. Since the Geth obviously won't happen and shouldn't unless the story was specifically tailored to a Geth character I'm only mentioning Drell since everyone else will go for for the most popular ones.

This!

Human - jack of all, master of none OR biotic (see below for comments on asari)
Quarian - tech expert
Turian - military expert
(Asari - biotic..I wouldn't really want to play as an asari so it's an after thought. The most entertaining reason would be to watch all the male NPC's drool over your character)

In reality, I'd do my first play through as a human and then decide I don't have enough free time to play the game again for a long time, so..don't really care if they add more races.

*EDIT* In addition to the "quarian customizability" debate...Tali said the geth were helping train the quarian immune response by simulating infections. In a spin-off/sequel it wouldn't be too far-fetched to have a quarian who didn't have to wear a mask

One of the reasons I tihnk Volus would be fun and enjoyable woudl be that people might not be taking you seriously, like guards and soldiers until there is a terrorist attack and you show up and save their hides.
They might have been making jokes about you or laughing at you behind your back, and now the joke is on them.
Just like Barla Von was kicking everyones asses in the armax arena.
I wonder if that's because he was using shadowbroker equipment and training, being an agent of the shadowbroker. Funny thign is, Barla Von seems to be one of the few people who doesn't seem to know Liara is the new Shadowbroker. Which is the only reason Liara wants Shepard to pretend to pickup a mission from Barla Von to throw of any suspicions.

This would be an effective way to double your play time, since Volus take forever to talk...I don't think I could handle that.

It would be quite the site, though.
