Playable Qunari kinda scares me lore wise.

Seeing as the Qunari are seen as an invader and alien in all of Thedas how can they lead the Inquisition?  I mean it just seems to me that everything we have seen so far of Thedas and how the Qunari fit into it no one would fallow an order led by a Qunari.  MAYBE it would work if you go full force but I don't see many people negotiating with a Qunari.  Just seems like a hard sell to make it work.

Yeah that dose not change the fact that ALL of Thedas is still going to hate you if you are 7 feet tall and have horns.  The people of Thedas don't care if they are Qunari or Tal-Vashoth.  They don't even know the difference.

As already stated, I don't think they mean 'You play as a Quinari, follower of the Qun', but as a Kossith/Tal-Vashoth which is the race that is almost always confused with the religious order/group called Quinari, which is predominantly made from the Kossith/Tal-Vashoth race.

It would probably be done this way to help Plot and RPG elements. If we were to truly be Quinari, there wouldn't be much choice/options stuff because we'd be following the Qun all the time.

And? That's probably going to be a plot point of the third game if you play one. The writers/devs have stated that there are going to be parts which will be a lot more difficult to complete if you are playing a Quinari/Tal-Vassoth/Kossith, where a Dwarf or even an Elf would have an easier time.

It makes things more interesting and I'd rather my racial choices be recognized by the plot/characters/etc instead of being purely cosmetic.

Then they'll have to work extra hard to make people trust them, won't they?

People were willing to follow a city elf Warden despite living in a gutter and potentially murdering the arl's son because they knew they didn't have a choice. I'd expect the same with a qunari Inquisitor.

Again I say I know all that but it dose not matter. The people of Thedas will not see the difference. To them every Kossith in a Qunari. It will get old if your main character has to explain to everyone who and what they really are...

And, yet... if a demon is coming at me from a rip in The Fade, I'll be more than happy to hide behind someone, whether they be a three foot dwarf or a seven foot ox man.

Then that will serve to make your character much more interesting.

Think about it: a person born into a world that hates him for what he/she is... trying to climb the social ladder and gain respect but finding naught but scorn no matter how hard he/she tries. Cliche? A bit. But it does add a lot of drama.

That sounds like a damn good roleplaying experience to me

There was balance of probability a Qunari in the Warden's party, and Vashoth hired soldiers seem to be relatively respected. (Or at least accepted.) It's no weirder than someone accepting an elf as a leader, really.

The increase in difficulty appeals to me, actually. It's why I'm planning on playing a Qunari first.

Yeah, like your character was hunted down like a dog for being a Blood Mage.

Oh wait.

Now, seriously, it's gonna be fine. Don't worry about it.

And even if it's hard, give us Qunari damnit!

They have said there will be some background explanation and they have said people will react differently to you. They didn't announce the Qunari playability at the same time as the other races because they wanted to be sure they would fit into the story. I think you have to give them the benefit of the doubt. They have at least considered the implications.

And on the plus side is the awesomness that you can play as one of them. It appeals to me, being hated by both sides for what you were born as and what you chose to be.

Trust? Pffft. They can be given a choice, trust the Qunisitor or fear the Qunisitor.

Kneel or cower, but don't get in the way!

You DO understand that that's part of the roleplaying experience, right? Just like with Elves, it's going to be harder having people side with you and it just means you have to work harder to prove yourself.

Personally, I really don't see an issue with that at all.

Of course they'll be ignorant. We'll just have to work hard for respect. Race is an arbitrary boundary between love and hate. It's superficial to its core, and thus it will be an easy one to break, especially given that you're working for the good of Thedas.
