I'd like to see something like Arcane Warrior come back, but maybe with a different taste. Like visually using magic to fight. Have some magic armor ( DAII rock armor for example ) and magic weapons ( skyrim conjure weapons or something, which would be sustained abilities I guess ).

I liked Ranger, as it gave me a badass wolf companion :)

Shapeshifter is pretty cool too.

Spirit Healer, Blood mage, Templar, Assassin I'm sure will be in the game.

Otherwise, anything, and more importantly, new things !

Blood Reaver. I like to munch on my enemies.

It's probably already reasonably locked down, so this is more of a fun thread.  What three or four specializations would you like to have available for each class?

I'd like four specs, with two points available, DAO style.

They've said they want to make specializations more meaningful, and suggested that you'd only be able to pick one. I wouldn't be surprised if there were fewer than in other games.

Awww...

That means we can't do a templar-reaver...  And I so wanted to smite mages and eat their hearts out.

For rogues bard and assassin definitely. For mages I'd really love blood Mage and force Mage to be back again. I don't really care for warrior class so whatever's fine with other people.

I'm happy with only being able to pick one specialisation; for roleplay reasons I usually only put points into one in DA2. (Not really possible in DAO with only four talents per tree.) I'd prefer four specialisation available for each class, though, to give more customisation. As for what I'd like to see ...

Warrior: Guardian, Templar, Reaver and Beserker.

Pretty standard. I really hope that we get Guardian available to PCs again, as its nice to have a tank-specific spec. Templar for anti-magic tanking, Beserker for pure damage and Reaver for those who like to nom on their enemies.

Rogue: Assassin, Bard, Duelist and ... something else.

Bard needs to make a return since we'll be in Orlais. Assassin and Duelist cover two styles of melee rogue, so I'd like to see the other spec be something that's good for archers. I guess they could go with Shadow, but it's always seemed to have a lot of conceptual overlap with Assassin.

Mage: Spirit Healer, Blood Mage, Keeper, Force Mage.

I don't want either Shapeshifter or Arcane Warrior back. Shapeshifters are really difficult to implement well and balance properly, and I like my Dragon Age classes as distinct as possible. I don't know if we're likely to get Force Mage back, but I had SO MUCH FUN with it in DA2.

I would say Arcane warrior, but I did feel kind of bad about casting a spell that did 650 damage while wearing dragon skin armor.

My mages need swords dammit! (Staffs are for pansies.)

From what I hear we get to choose 1. So no more cross blood/spirit etc.

How confident are we on this?

I know one of the devs floated the idea of having only 1 spec but giving it more weight in game just to get some feedback, but have we heard anything more about this since then?

Also, to answer the question, I loved Force Mage. Hope that one's back. The rest I'm easy with.

It wasn't confirmed they were going to do this, but an idea they were thinking of IIRC. That being said, I really hope they implement this. Having an opening quest and way more reactivity to your specialization would vastly improve replayability.

On topic: My personal favorites for specializations

Warrior
- Berserker (this has to be in game, because I'm planning on using it for my first playthrough :D )
- Reaver

Rogue
- Assassin

Mage
- Arcane Warrior (needs some serious rebalancing though)
- Spirit Healer
- Shapeshifter (again, with serious rebalancing)

id like them to pull more from the lore of the game. Ash warrior always sounded interesting, for example. or Legion of the dead, silent sisters, anything more specific than just, 'assassin' or 'champion.'
honestly, they could do basically the same thing as they do now, just make the specs lore friendly and presented via the story- not in a book (or at least not more than one)

Some form of warrior-mage where you could channel power through a weapon and kind of sort of 'hide' the fact you are a mage until the fecal matter comes in contact with the rotary oscillator, then you bring the pain full blown.

Kind of like the trailer for DA2 had Hawke fight.

It would be cool if Warriors had a tree that gave more attacks for Two Handed style - something like a blademaster spec. Then a Sword & Shield spec like Guardian.

Rogues are okay with Ranger (should be archer bonus), assassin and scout

I think I found this funnier than you intended it to be. Only because I imagined Varric describing the Inquisitor that way.

Limiting myself to three per class, where only one specialisation is chosen per character:

Warrior
Templar
Fade Warrior
Berserker

Rogue
Assassin/Crow (focusing on stealth and dual blades only)
Archer (ranged, bow and arrow)
Melee Archer (crossbow and a blade for up close)

Mage
Keeper
Blood Mage
Arcane Warrior

With mages, I'm hoping decent healing spells will be available to all specialisations - so no Spirit Healer. I think all mages need to have access to these spells, especially considering the lack of health regen.

Rogue:
Shadow
Assassin

Mage:
Force Mage
Spirit Healer

Warrior:
Templar
Reaver

My favorite spec would probably be either Shadow or Force Mage.  I like being able to have decoy on hand for when my archer rogue gets swarmed, and being able to shed hate is always nice.  Force Mage was fun to use for crowd control and being able to toss enemies around, getting them grouped together, then unleashing firestorm on them.

I'd like a rogue that does cc and debuff with a short bow, and dps/spike damage w melee. If they added a single wield/ single weapon tree, I would never stop playing the game
