Shepard only has pistols available after completing the Geth Fighter Squadrons mission on Rannoch.

If I go to the weapon load out bench, there are no weapons to select except pistols. 

Is this a mission I just need to skip, or is there a way around this?

Reverted to an earlier save and did the Rannoch save the admiral mission first. Second time through the Geth Fighter Squadrons left me with all my weapons intact. I had read about the weapons being set to 0 (ie no weapon equipped). But I couldn't even select a weapon - they just all disappeared. Just for the record.

I've had that happen before, and also after using a mission-specific heavy weapon. Never had the workbench bug though. I usually just wait until the next mission starts, and change my loadout at squad selection. I've always had the full choice of weapons then.
