I'm hoping this time around, evil options tend towards brutal extremism rather than "lolevil" or chaotic stupid

Maybe not, the world seems to blame Hawke for what happened at Kirkwall if you remember Cassandra's interrogation.

Well, I think the Chantry certainly blames Hawke, but then they're certainly not going to take responsibility.

Aren't all mages legally apostates now?

It wouldn't surprise me to see the Chantry blaming Hawke on everything. It's easy pointing the blame finger at other people rather than your own self.

<~~~~ Grand Cleric Elthina was too arrogant for her own good, and Anders had to teach just how wrong she was.

Andrastate panties to the oblivion to all the Anders haters!

Anders is a hero for doing what he did. Hes fighting for the freedom of all mages, and finally putting to the end of the corruptive Chantry.

Why do people hate him so much for advocating his kind?

Templars are nothing more than out of control drug addicts. It should be them that should be stopped. Not the mages who want to live peacefully within society.

Without getting into the whole blowing up a church and throwing a city into chaos thing how is dooming a Circle to a merciless slaughter because you want a war heroic and advocating for his kind?

Like I have said before , you'll have an opportunity to kill everybody in the game.
Doing so might lead to an unexpected game over or unexpected bad ending .
I'm tired of players wanting to commit genocide in the game and I hope the game punishes them for such actions so they get what they deserve.

Too bad you'll be forced to kill crazy lunatic templars like yourself throughout the game.  Lmao

If Bethany joined the Wardens, she wouldn't exactly be an apostate, would she?

@Arcane Warrior Mage Hawke, Meredith was insane and Elthina allowed her tyrant behavior to continue. She was an enabler. She enabled the war between the Templars and the Mages. It was only matter of time. Everything that happen was her fault. Anders could no longer stand around while Mages ,who already passed their Harrowing, be made tranquil. Mages in the circle are sexually and physically abused, and this isn't coming out of Anders mouth. The evidence is right there in the Gallows.

Someone has to be their voice, and Elthina failed. She allowed her KC to continue bully the First Enchanter and his Mages to resort to blood magic making it seem as if the Mages in Kirkwall are out of control. Some of the Templars started showing sympathy for the Mages and help them to escape. Some even join forced with the Mages. Perhaps this was Elthina's plan? Who knows.

In the Order the recruits are told that Mages are not people, and that they cannot be your friends. They're programmed by the Chantry to view Mages as second class to third class citizens.

Why do you want something like that? I rather tranquilize Anders instead.

Not much of a lore person are we? It's impossible to tranquilize abominations.

Well it seems we'll be forced to kill those red lyrium templars regardless.
I don't consider that genocide .
I consider it necessary.

Templar order is like modern DRM - they can only hurt/tranqualize and leave defenseless those mages that follow the laws.
Once a mage goes blood mage and bonds with a spirit/demon, templar methods suddenly become useless, and they are on the weak side.

White - Anders.
Grey - Templars.
Brown - Lawful mages.

Moral relativism! Burning people alive is a subjective act, and bla bla. ^_^

Anyway, if you're killing all mages, burning them alive would be highly inefficient. It's not like you're after a deterrent effect. Just kill the mages as and when, and save burning alive for people who harbour them or any of your own minions who mess up - pour encourager les autres.

I se a bit of a sarcasm detection fail with the last page. Original Poster here, and this thread is less about "mages should be free, **** templars" or "mages need to be locked up, templars **** yeah" and more about whether or not we'll be able to roleplay as the same kind of deranged extremist (on either side of the debate) that causes things to (literally) go to hell in the first place.

Why's that? Because it's awesome that's why! Dragon Age 2's sheer grimderp has more or less removed my ability to care about the setting or it's characters on the basis of their struggles or ideologies, so what matters to me now is how much of an evil, yet awesome, bastard I can be.

That is no excuse for inefficiency, now do it properly or we'll have to send in the internal auditors and then you'll learn what evil really is.

Being awesome trumps being efficient every day. At least that's how in works in Warhammer 40,000, home to some of the most impractical armor ever envisioned, among other things that are awesome but mind boggingly stupid in a good way.

Given the size of that bureaucracy I bet they have terrifying auditors. The only reason you haven't seen them is they'd cost so many points no one could field one.

I just think directing your campaign of terror towards your own people and minions is more awesome. And isn't Warhammer 40K a land of massive collateral damage? You need to free yourself from this notion of only targetting the enemy.

Alas this will not be happening.

But I am happy to settle for killing him, Merrill, and that scumbag Orsino when we annulled the Circle.

I'd burn Morrigan and Anders without so much as a passing thought. But I feel that most mages wouldn't be crazy unless forced to. Of course, there are crazies in every group :P they'd need to die, too.

The funnier thing is... I go on Dragon Age kicks where that's all I'll play for a while. I played DA:O several times before DA2. My last kick, I was perfectly okay with Anders. Even with all his self righteous crap. And I've always been okay with Fenris, while I don't appreciate his black/white of every situation with a mage. At least he has an excuse :/ Anders... well, he really doesn't.

The current kick I'm in... I CANNOT stand Anders for the life of me! Everytime I look at him. Ugh. I just know it's gonna come out. My mage Hawke rivals him out of amusement, I side with the mages at the end, anyway :P And I murder knife him.
