So apparently, she's a dwarf Inquisitor. Is it just me, or have dwarves gotten taller? Maybe too tall? I'm of two minds. It's certainly making playng a dwarf more interesting to me as I find it difficult to play a character who's so short, but I still think dwarves ought to be slightly shorter than what it looks like in that concept art.

What do you guys think? Good, bad, doesn't matter?

The proof is in the pudding. Concept art is just that: concept art.

Actually their height in the concept art is accurate to DAO. I just briefly logged on and compared Zevran to a random female commoner in Orzammar. =)

I thought Varric seemed awfully tall in the gameplay demo, but it might have just been in my head. Especially at the beginning, but it could have just been the angle as well.

Yeah, the elves in DAO were about a head shorter than the humans, and the dwarves a head shorter than the elves - looks the same to me. :)

Yeah she looks way too tall in the concept art to me assuming women are shorter than men that is.

It's not so much in comparison to the elf, that's about right I would say, it's that she doesn't look recognisably dwarven from what we've seen in DAO. Her body seems quite stretched, for lack of a better word.

Maybe Elves have gone back to their DA:O height? Because they were really very short there, and we don't have much else to compare.

edit:  Female dwarves are likely relatively skinny so that they're more conventionally pretty

I got that feeling when I was looking at those grey face models they showed us as well.

Yeah I would not worry to much just from some concept art. But I do agree that Dwarf seems a tad to large.

Do note that she's standing on some kind of rock outcropping. Her feet are up higher than those of the elf she's near.

Why is that a problem?

Two sort of reasons that I think make one good enough reason. One, I myself am just below average height, so the elf height is just right for me, not too short, not too tall. And I find height differences hilarious, which could really ruin some emotional scenes. I remember the last episode of the Walking Dead game where I kept changing from uncontrollable sobbing to hysterical laughter because Omid was so short. It still makes me laugh. And secondly I feel bad for the characters, my dwarf is always craning their neck up to talk to the important NPCs and important NPCs are always looking down at the floor. It's even worse when they have big bulky armour and look like they can't even see their feet as a result. So yeah, it's my moral responsibility to not be that short I feel.

Hoping for this.  :wizard:

I assumed she was a dwarf the first time I saw that picture... She's too broad in the chest to be human. From a proportion stand point, I think she looks less squat than previous dwarves though. And I'm fine with that, personally.

I hope dwarves are really short and one being a romance option so my female Qunari Inquisitor can have a romance with an adorable height difference.

I don't know about Elfman but I prefer playing a female in the shorter races due to my own outdated stereotypes.  I have a problem playing a male PC with a LI he can look up to (literally.)  I realize that my own thinking is sexist.  Why should a man always have to be taller than the woman he's with?  I can think of 2 examples of people who have successful LTRs with a shorter man and taller woman.  And what of the ss relationships I know?  Should the partners be the same height, then?  My own thinking is obviously flawed.
