I read a couple of post in which people don't want this is Dragon Age Inquisition. I don't understand this, why not?!? This is how our characters level up weapons and other things. I love fighting as many enemies as possible, especially if it's rewarding to do.

Well, no. Not inherently, anyway, but I think DA II overdid this and made it a norm rather than something I feel should be used sparingly.

It boils down to personal preference, really.

After DA2, I'm glad we're not fighting hordes anymore

It depends on how challenging it is.. Fighting a horde of bad guys who can't even scratch you that isn't so much fun. Steam rolling hordes without a challenge is a real waste of time and rather boring.

As long as it's not in the form of magical reinforcements of the same 3-4 enemies on repeat. I'd prefer a bigger group of two rounds or more diverse set ups than endless fodder just for the sake of extending the fight.

That just makes random encounters boring real fast.

It's fine when it fits with the story, it's annoying when it's a pointless filler fight needlessly extended by waves

Not when it's tedious filler meant to pad the game length.

I wouldn't mind it if there was next to no chance at survival, with the player dying twenty times out of ten. Does that count?

Yes.

There should always be ways to earn experience without hacking through seemingly endless waves of enemies, and every quest and encounter should not inevitably end with a bloodbath.

The way the hordes of foes were handled in DA II made combat so crushingly dull that I resorted to using the "killallhostiles" console command in the end.

I don't like tedious filler + the combat system in DA2 was boring + it doesn't make sense or fit the story (why would people parachute out of every nook, cranny, and ceiling to try and rob the famously strongest person in the game every 3 steps?)

Because in tha base game, a group of mooks were clumped together, then up to three waves of their buddies would leap down from the roofs and appear quite inexplicably out of thin air to join in. Virtually always.

I like the idea of reinforcements coming from around a corner or through a door, not this teleporting out of thin air.

I like the idea of potentially getting flanked, like I take on an enemy headon and their backup rounds a corner behind me. Or the enemy is chasing me down and trying to corral me into a deadend that has backup, or forcing me to retreat down a path that they had backup positioned at for an ambush.

I didn't mind the number of mobs we had to kill, that was fine. Jumping out of the air was the problem instead of using creative ways for the mobs to reinforce their attack on me.

When it gets as tedious and annoying as it was in DAII then yes, it is a bad thing.

Personally, I don't like it. I want every fight to be meaningful and memorable, killing hordes of enemies single-handed just takes any sense of being a part of the world and instead you are like this invincible superman/woman. Not saying it's inherently a bad thing, I'm just not interested in that sort of thing.

If enemies appears from thin air - then no. Sometimes its ok , but quality > quantity is preferred.

If they continually materialize out of thin air, or are just thrown in with paltry health bars to be fodder and artificially increase the length of fights, then yes.

If the story calls for it at a certain point of the game then no.
