Is DA:I Bioware's "last chance" for you?

With many people either being disappointed by SWTOR, DA2 or ME3, I'm just curious how many feel that this is Bioware's last chance to produce a "must buy", a pre-order or limited edition purchase from them. Or is Dragon Age the only series you play? Oooor is DA2 (or those other games, but DA2 is more relevant to DAI) wasn't a disappointment to you at all? This really isn't a thread to bash or praise Bioware, I just want to get a sense of where the fanbase is. 'Cause curiousity and all that.

I have no real opinion in the matter.

I just really need to point out Hanar, that while I aprove of your current profile pic your old one with Blasto was much better.

Why does this get brought up every time a new Bioware game is coming?

I mean I dislike ME3 and DA2 very much but that doesn't mean I'll instantly tick them off.

Nah....the rest of the industry is so *blah* right now that Bioware shines in comparison.

This. You didn't like <insert DA2 or ME3's ending>. Fine... Let. It. Go.

Nope, I evaluate every game on its own merit. As disappointed as I am in many different companies I won't write them off, why should I treat BioWare any differently?

The posters who were totally and unequivocally unhappy with all three of those games are vocal minority on the BSN, and the BSN is a (very) vocal minority of actual gamers who buy and play these things. None of those games are perfect, but none of them are nearly as bad as you seem to think. TOR in particular, is a fine MMO with a uniformly fantastic story.

So, no. It's not a "last chance" for me, and I sincerely doubt it's a "last chance" for anyone outside a few dozen of the noisier posters here on the BSN, either.

I have an odd interaction with Bioware. So to say this is the "last chance" would be disingenuous. Because we're essentially past that point.

I have no particular faith that DA:I will be a game I can truly appreciate. But I like to consider myself open to that possibility, as I am open to many things.

They're yet to put out a game that I've found bad yet, so no. They'd have to have a longer string of far worse failures to get me to give up on them.

With DA:2, the game was rushed. However, I still put a lot of hours into that game, enjoyed the quests and companion stories and had plenty of fun. An unfortunate dip in Bioware's standard, but by no means a bad game.

With TOR, I was an early adopter. Jumped in day one. Now, it was very barebones as far as endgame and from what I've heard that hasn't got any better. But the story missions are all excellent like little mini campaigns in their own right that I definitely enjoyed playing (and plan on going back!). More than worth the money even if I'm not going to be raiding every Saturday night there. Again, disappointing, but still plenty of fun in that game.

Now, ME3, my opinion's nothing new. The rest of the game was absolutely excellent. The ending ruined it. It's because of that I haven't even touched any of the DLC, when I would have bought it sight unseen in ME2. The Tali photoshop and needing to play MP for the breathe ending were also ****ty. But as angry as I was, I still had a ton of fun the rest of the game. The Conrad questline alone was a culmination of my obsessive completionist bull**** cresting into a hilarious conclusion. Worth the 60 bucks, MP was even fun for a bit, still not a bad game.

No, I don't believe in that stuff. If they make a good game that is worth the money then I'll get it regardless of what might have happened in the past. I don't think past mistakes are a good reason to miss out on a good game, they're reasons to be wary of the next purchase though.

Anyway, if DA:I turns out good I'll buy it, if not well, at least my money didn't go down the drain.

Mass Effect 3 was Bioware's "last chance for me"

DAI is now Bioware's "first chance" to regain my trust.

Even if DAI will fail completely for me (which I don't think it'll be for what we see so far), I would still buy a future Bioware game if it'll turn out as a good/great game.

Honestly, there are certain series which are at a completely different level over most games. Dragon Age, Mass Effect, among others belong in this group for me. Even a "bad" Dragon Age game is still better than the bulk of games out there and as such I will always purchase it, very likely on release day.

So no... there is no 'last' chance. I figure with the joy and time I spent on Dragon Age:Origins alone warrants me giving them about dozen chances. Besides I enjoyed SWTOR, ME3, and DA2 even with their flaws.

Until there are games that provide true competition for what BioWare does the answer is no. In depth companions that you actually care about (love or hate) sets them apart and I haven't found a game yet that deals with this the way bioware does. Even when there have been disappointments with other aspects of the their games they still come through to enough of an extent with their companions. (DA2 having some of the best companions to date, Me handling things like Mordins final scene.)

I don't care how bad previous game does.. what i'm looking at is results. If Bioware can deliver the results i want it doesn't matter.

Of course not. People really need to let stuff go. Game companies make mistakes. They release games that don't live up to the unachievable expectations of players. It happens... It happened... It's over...

I will always judge a game based on just that... the game. No more, no less.

And with that said, Inquisition looks damned good to me!

I enjoyed DA2 despite its faults but i walked blindly into ME3 disaster and that hurt.
DAI is a chance for them to regain the trust ME3 stripped away.
