It really is quite fascinating how much interest around DAI has exploded. But I'm pretty sure Bioware could have made Skyrim with a dialogue wheel and people would have ate it up too.

Hopefully it delivers, and EA realizes that greatness can't be rushed and lets Bioware take their time in the future. I didn't mind ME3, loved it actually. could have used some more polish but I enjoyed the story. DA2 though, well it had potential but it was too half-baked and you could tell it was rushed, resulting in a surprisingly poor quality game for Bioware.

Good studio, I have high hopes from what i've seen with DA:I. But i'm 'that guy' I'll buy it and enjoy it anyway.

The last time they took nearly this much time on a game was Origins, so that's why I'm getting excited. They have so much to work with in this game, and it will be really difficult to go wrong.

I never played Mass Effect and I liked DA2, so not really.

Why? Is Bioware some lover that needs 'redemption'? Seriously... the way you guys rule out these developers because of video games is a bit irrational. If the game sucks, it sucks. If the game is good, it's good despite the past mistakes.

Despite what DA2, ME3, and SWTOR, were. In many respects it was still good, yes it had it's flaws, but I would still play it from time to time. DA:I is just a game where I can continue to enjoy a good story. They have to do a really crappy job for me to no longer trust in the company and after seeing what they have to offer in Pax, that seems unlikely.

Of course not! tbh Bioware is the only ones that make games where i can get fully voiced acting, romance (not the best, but it's still romance), and Cool Characters. ME3 wasn't the best but it had Garrus so IDC :D! DA2 was bad in my opinion but only because of the chaos story, same design of everything, and never aging town of Kirkwall (did i spell that right?) But no i would still play bioware games

No, not really. While I was disappointed with ME2, 3, and DA2, I wasn't disappointed enough that I actually regretted buying them. BioWare games still hit some notes that no other developers manage to for me.

Has anyone in this thread actually said yes yet?

funny how everywhere other than this thread people seem to scream yes and this is bioware a one and only chance :P

Right? If you go by this thread you'd actually think fandom is largely... positive. Madness.

Apart from from some intrinsic and personal problems with DAII and TOR, I liked them. It seems they both suffered from being rushed by EA and suffering hype backlash.

I liked ME3 too until the Ending Fiasco occurred and BW lost a lot of credibility by backing an ending that was fundamentally broken and unwanted by most of it's fans/customers. There's no next chance for the ME series, continuing off of a broken ending will just push the series further into the ditch.

DA: I isn't necessarily a last chance to see if I'll stick around, but more of a chance for BW to show that they still have the same talent and effort that brought us KOTOR, DA:O, and 99.5% percent of the ME trilogy. If they ever did fall, this game is their chance to get back their momentum for future projects and reclaim some credibility with a now heavily divided and jaded fanbase/customer base.

So far, DA: I seems like it's going on the right track, but we won't know for sure until the game releases next year.

Same here. I did not have any issues with DA2 that were deal-breaking, so no. Annoyances, yes, minor irritations, certainly. But all in all, I still loved it (2½ playthroughs)

No way... I'll always love Bioware and will most likely always play the games they put out. IMO in terms of story-telling and making you care for the characters they are unmatched. Having said that, I was not overly fond of DA2 because it was clear that it was rushed and not done to the best of their ability, but I still enjoyed playing it. And ME3 was a masterpiece, I think it's been their best game yet. The vanilla endings were a little disheartening, but it was fixed for me with the release of the extended cut and the Citadel DLC. DA:I looks like its gearing up to be spectacular and might even surpass ME3 for me.

What can I say? The stories scratch an itch in me.

Exactly.  And which games from which devs are gonna scratch that itch better?  I'm not saying that there can't be improvements.  Of course there can.  Things can always be made better.  But who besides Bioware has those long, sharp fingernails currently that all of us here seem to crave?  I'm really surprised no one else has really grown theirs out to challenge them.  I guess you could make a case for CD Projekt Red, but to me the Witcher series doesn't hold a candle next to Bioware for what I'm looking for from a customizeable, story-driven RPG.  I don't get the same emotional investment.

Absolutely.  There are other RPGs that I love.  For example, I'm a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls.  But it's a different experience for me:  In Skyrim, I really enjoyed roleplaying, and I loved the lore, the world, the overall atmosphere--but to have that roleplaying experience, I was filling in a lot of blanks.  It's not a bad thing, but it's different from what Bioware does.  In the Witcher, I have this great story presented to me, but I don't feel any ownership over it--it's something beautiful that someone else has created for me to enjoy.  Bioware has struck a balance between those two poles.  I feel that my character is mine, that the experience is mine, but the story is still crafted and presented to me in a way that I don't control (which is okay, because it's different from the story I would tell, and I'm excited to consume it).

No. Even if they fail catastrophically, I wouldn't stop buying their games on principle. If they released a new, good-looking game down the road, I'd still give it a chance, because it looked good. I might lose the devoted loyalty I feel to them now, but I'd still treat them the same way I'd treat any other developer. Release a game that seems very interesting, and I might buy it.

The only reason I'd boycott a developer would be if they actually screwed over their customers as a rule, had a really ****ty attitude, etc. Which is not the same as making a bad game.

Just as an aside on a purely personal level, I enjoyed reading this thread to see that there's still a group of people that, even if they weren't satisfied with DA2 or ME3 or whatever, still took the time to share that you enjoy our games and that we strike a chord with you in unique ways.

In general I think the tone of the BSN has improved a bit since DAI was first officially announced and at other beats like the E3 teaser reveal. I guess I'm still somewhat touched by going to PAX because it was just straight up gorram exciting to see all the enthusiasm at the big panel and at the BioWare base in general. So Thanks!

I'm sure it can get depressing for you guys, but consider that a lot of us left the forums and most media concerned with Bioware for a long time just because of how toxic things had become.  But we were still out there enjoying your games!  I was replaying KOTOR and am currently replaying DA2.

It became rather tedious to try to "discuss" with a certain group of people (the hater bandwagon) yelling really loudly about the same things over and over again.

Hell no. As I said in these boards when the "Rise to power" trailer was released, focusing every game on gray wardens and blights would have stagnated the franchise the way the Star Wars universe has been crippled by its exclusive association with jedis.

I loved all DA games so far, a beautiful blend of the good things in BG and JE. I'm positive that, after DA:I and once all the insane hatred for DA2 is over, this second game will be seen in a new perspective by all those enraged fans who were demanding another DA:O and even they will come to appreciate it for what it is: a brave innovative move for a very dynamic and exciting franchise.

Allan I'm a bitterly disappointed critic of ME3. It is so bad to me I never finished it. If you read my posts on the ME3 board you will think it is a differnt user.

Here on DA forums I am optimistic and supportive and defend the games.

It wasn't DAI or the trailers that turned me around. It was seeing David Gaider, John Epler, Mary Kirby you, etc posting here often, treating us like people.

I feel I am in good hands, even if all the people I mention above never read a post of mine, I feel they listen and care about fans. So I know they - and you - are doing your best and are not trying to put a "wall" of PR between us fans and you guys. I trust the DA team.

DAI, the demos and the gorgeous stuff we are seeing is just icing on the cake :)

No.

I take the reasonable stance of: if what I hear sounds good, I'll buy it. If it doesn't sound good I won't buy it.

With ME3 I did not like the direction Bioware was taking the game so I did not purchase it. In regards to DA:I, although there are indeed some positive improvements on DA2's mistakes I'm not liking the sound of the 'Red Templars' and what I've heard about them from the leaks.

If the leaks turn out to be correct I will more than likely not purchase DA:I.

No. It´s not about last chance for me. I was disappointed with DA2 and ME3, which led me to reconsider my initial intent to pre-order DAI. I´ll simply wait and see what other players will have to tell about the game now and if it looks good, I will buy it. And I have to admit. It looks good so far.

There is no such things as a last chance for me, and I won't ever write Bioware off simply because some other fans (a vocal minority in my view) find DA2 or ME3 lacking. Yes DA2 felt rushed and unpolished when compared to DAO, but it was still a very good game and I enjoyed it greatly, and ME3 original ending might've been somewhat lackluster, but the Extended Cut, the DLC and the rest of the game more than made up for it. It was an awesome game, to put it simply.

So long as they continoue making games that I deem interesting I will continue to support them. DAI comes to mind right of the bat, since this is a DAI discussion, but the next ME game is something I keep an eye on as well.

Both the "media" and Bioware claimed that the BSN mob was only a minority when ME3 disaster happened, and that their negative opinions didn't really count. But now that the minorities are saying nice things about them, a mod shows up and gives a formal gratitude...Here's to shrewd business instincts! More power to artistic integrity (or whatever they used for the ME3 ending):lol::lol:

The disappointment about the ME3 ending to me was because the whole series including that game had been so excellent up until that point, so you basically have 2.99 great games. I don't regret for a moment having played them.

As to DA2, despite the obviously rushed nature of the product (repeated levels, waves dropping from the sky, compressed third act), I still enjoyed it and I was very intrigued and excited by the state in which they left Thedas at the end. I thought that the opportunity was there for some kind of epic conflict featuring lots of war and politics. So far they seem to be making the game I envisioned, so I don't see it as any sort of "last chance."
