Since qunari will be a new race to choose from, you better believe I'm leaping at the chance to play a female qunari on my first play-through.

But I have questions to which some of you could offer suggestions. Theoretically, if I'm choosing to be a female qunari who will be assuming the role of Inquisitor, then she may be transitioning from the role of Tamassran to Tal Vashoth. In that, I get to pick a name. Now, obviously we all get to pick names in character creation, but my qunari will likely *be* picking her own name in order to make that transition away from the Qun.

I wanted to pick a name that, in their language, has meaning, but I know very little. Any name suggestions?

I also wanted to make my fem qunari a mage. So I'm unclear if her previous role in the Qun is Tamassran or Saarebas. Which role comes first? Class or gender? Help.

Duck when going through doorways.

I suspect the player Qunari will have left the Qun some time prior to the game's starting, if not having been born outside of it. I half expect it to have been raised by two farmers, Superman style.

It definitely won't be a Saarebas in the strictes sense. If you can play Qunari mage, expect to have never been to Par Vollen or to always have been a part of the rebels. I don't think they'd have a tongueless PC.

I'm calling my qunari mage Hissra, (from my signature). It means illusion, which fits in quite well for both mages and people who reject the Qun. It comes from the Qun too, which is nice I think, turning it on its head.

Not all female qunari are tamassrans, those are government officials. All qunari mages are saarebas according to the wiki

Is there a qunari "dictionary" out there?

You can also look at the wiki's Qunlat article for a name you like.

I don't think you can be Tamassran if you're a mage , you are Saarebas and you are bound /gag etc...I don't think there's another role for mages under the Qun.

You could always headcanon that the Qunquisitor was just able to keep it discreet for a long time.

Just because you're Qunari doesn't mean you're under the Qun.

Keep that in mind.

1. Until we know what the qunari background is, we can't really offer advice. You might have just broken from the Qun. You might be a special agent.

2. Mary wrote Sten and seems to be the Qunari language expert. If you get a chance, I'd suggest asking her for a list of suitable names.

Perhaps this Qunari has kept her magical talents a secret all this time? Thus never known as a Saarebas?

I suggested 'The Iron Cow' as a counter to Iron Bull in another thread but that was panned.

I had my heart set on starting my first game as a female elf, but since they brought in the Qunari I'm torn. Cannot wait to get the demo...if they'll be one.

I know but a Tamassran is part of the Qun , like Sten.
They are not Tal Vashoth .
And I doubt we will play Qunari , follower of the Qun .

I'm naming my female warrior Issala "Dust", because that's what she pounds her enemies into. ^_^

I'm not sure if they plan to have any sort of predetermined backstory for the races, but otherwise I've planned her to be a born Tal Vashoth that spent her life as a mercenary.

Do you have confirmation somewhere that the PC is a Tamassran?

I'd love to play an elven Qunari. That's my dream protagonist.

The OP want to roleplay a Tamassran.
I was not saying we're going to play one.
I was saying I think it's impossible to play a mage Tamassran , because mage = saarebas .
If you're not part of the Qun , your only "role" is Tal Vashoth anyway .

Be ruthless. Show no mercy, except when mercy furthers your goals. The one thing that I've observed of qunari is that they don't really cotton to any concept of charity or sympathy. The qunari are inclined to look after their converts, but the unenlightened bas are all the same.

Respect might. The qunari choose their military commanders through trials of combat. Sten's respect for you grew after you kicked his ass at Haven.

Be brutally honest. Lies are the weapons of humans and elves.

I would say there must be a good reason that this Qunari is in the situation they are in.  Thus you can throw all of the exisiting Qun behavioural tropes out the window.

I also laugh uproarisouly at the last line.  that is exacrtly what the Qunari would say despite being some of the biggest liars and deceivers around.

Don't forget to post the results in a new thread if anyone actually makes this happen. Sharing is caring, you know!:)

When has a qunari ever lied? They withhold information. That's not the same thing, at least to a qunari.

After checking out the wiki I'm leaning towards Kas (weapon) though she was formerly another Tallis.

I was intending for my ox girl to be a merchant but perhaps I'll make that her post qun trade rather than her role within the qunari.
