This happens to me a lot. It rarely used to. Now it's probably about 1 in 4 games. Of the other 3, 2 of them will be laggy. If I host, it's a guaranteed d/c unless it's just me and maybe 1 other person.
I'm on PC. I play other games online without an issue. I watch videos online. it's just this game, and only within the last couple weeks, that my connection has become unstable.
So if you see me in a game and then you don't, I didn't ragequit. Either the game dropped me, or I left voluntarily since the lag makes it unplayable.
Of course when I do get in a non-laggy game, afterwards the host usually leaves. And then the search continues...

I have solid internet yet I had horrendous issues with server connection to the point where I stopped playing alltogether for two months or so.

This happens to me from time to time, too. [about once every two weeks]
I am connected via cable with 32M down and 1M up at around 9ms latency.
Edit: And I don't think that you can do something to prevent it.

In all the times I have played, I've gotten disconnected quite a few times but a majority of the time (18 times out of 20) I have been able to reconnect immediately after.

I've had terrible issues this last week - barely been able to play at all. The week before that, no problems whatsoever.

It comes in bunches for me. I'll go a couple days with no connection problems (save lag) but then get disconnected 3 times in a day (particularly after an origin update).

I got disconnected yesterday when hosting. We were on Firebase: Giant/Reapers/Platinum. It got to Wave 8 and then all of a sudden I get disconnected for some B.S. reason. I was on top of the leaderboards with 140K, and then BAM! The team got their consumables reset and I told my friend to invite me back in. She did and I returned with all of my consumables and my points were still intact at 140K. We resumed from there on. They have never done a Platinum, and so, this was their first Platinum and I carried the team throughout the match as my Drell Assassin Infiltrator. :-) Happy Endings to a bad Middle. I kept my credits too! :-D
