..on the PS3...my Rant is thus...simply because I don't have eyes in the back of my head and because I do this whenever I'm playing..

how about telling me there's a Banshee and/or Floating tick behind me about to sync kill me!

Having Mics makes golds soo much smoother!

I mean really we're a team right? I tend to have my mic muted and turn off mute whenever someone else has a mic, simply to have someone to talk to. If no one in the lobby has a mic, I turn mine off to conserve a charge.

I actually don't try to get the most kills or points but to complete the objectives, even if I decide to keep my mic on and no one has one I use it to coordinate.

its much easier to say 'I got pylon 1 you guys provide cover' or 'ok you're closer I'll get these mofo's to follow me around. instead of having 4 people all run to the same device with 3 Banshees, 3 Brutes a Lawyer and Jar Jar bings Inc behind them!

with Cerebus Phantoms are the #1 priority and I always call them out simply because I don't want the teams overall effectiveness cut by 25-50 or even 75% by ninja killz!

Am I the only one?

/rant off

I feel your pain. I play on PS3 also, but I only mic up with friends. The rest of the time I just blast some music and do work. You gotta get used to checking your own back.

I've played most of my time on ME3 MP without a mic.

have received no complaints from buddies, and the matches have been pretty smooth overall. can only think of a handful of times when a mission was compromised because I couldn't talk to squadmates.

if you see them in trouble and can't tell them, GO to them and help out. builds great situational awareness to try some runs off mic IMHO...

You need to, ahem, learn to play without the assistance of others.

Whenever my mics on it's rarely to give out tactical advice and when I do say something like "banshee behind you [username]" my warning goes unheeded and they get synced anyway.

Also, I don't mic up in PUGs. Get over it.

99% of the time, I just listen to music while playing. But I make sure I can still here the game sound. Really doesn't make a difference to me if people are talking or not.

You could look at it another way, if you always have 'call outs' you could become dependent on them. I would liken this to in CoD, when your radar gets jammed. You simply can't just run at the red dots.

Agreed. Having a mic won't make that much of a difference. It's all about how good the player(s) are.

it not about being dependent on them but it would make a gold run smoother.. Have I completed Pug golds in 20 mins without mics? sure! usually because the players know what they're doing and that's not an issue.. this is more so with inexperienced Gold players. Also because I'm a social animal, I like to talk during games, it doesn't make the 20-35 mins seem soo...bland

I'm curious, which wave gives you three banshees and three brutes?

You complained about pugs, claimed to be good with a manifest showing that you're a newish player so I wanted to be sure you weren't that stupid. There has been enough of ignorant sh*t poured forth onto this forum for it to be credible. And I understood the sarcasm, do you really think someone is moronic enough to believe Jar Jar Binks is in MEMP?

I only wish it were that way on PS3. Why is everyone so vocal???

I have had a bad experience with mics though - on xbox and PS3. Either there are screaming babies, barking dogs or people talk general crap.

You can definitely bet that no one would tell you about a banshee coming up behind you, because that would be kind; and no one is! Image IPB In fact they'd probably deliberately try to get you killed.

Oh, and then there are those types who just order you around and tell you what to do. Image IPB

The classic I will never forget was back on the old FB White before they changed it and this one guy with a Harrier asguard was yelling at everyone to stay away from the centre room (between the top bit and the bottom bit) because he wanted to 'nade all the spawns and absolutely refused to let anyone else in on the action.

I have never had a PS3 mic, because I always check my 6. Although, if I did, I would alert my team members to Banshees, Brutes, etc. because I am a team player. I don't have a PS3 HDD, but you can Add me if you want to, and when I get a new HDD, I'll play with you.

Ooh, I'd love it if Jar Jar Binks made a cross universe cameo as an enemy in this game.....setting him on fire would never get old.

I wouldn't be playing this game anymore if I didn't have a mic. So yay for mics. Though I rarely talk about what's going on in the game.
Get a headset? Good crutch for those of us with poor situational awareness.  ;)

Edit: Oh, and in the spirit of the current operation, you should try some duos. Less stressful than solos but you'll learn a lot about spawns and well.. being aware of your surroundings. You can add me if you'd like to try that. But the thing is, don't expect others to warn you about stuff. It's just not going to happen.

Yup you don't need a mic to play Gold upwards, just be more aware. And I don't plug mine in playing with Pugs, just no.

Very true.

Honestly OP, I would play Platinum with friends and we'd barely talk (2/4 of us would listen to music, and yes we would extract). Call outs help, but another stage of this game is learning to play without others. Getting killed by those enemies is a hard way to learn the lesson of situational awareness. Instead of blindly rushing for the objective (ie devices), sit back for a few seconds and look at what your teammates are doing. Then decide what to do.

Not many talkers on PC . Very rare that anything needs to be said. I would expect that another player would be aware enough to know that a Banshee or crab was behind them.

If I get taken down and there is a phantom sitting beside me in ambush I will let people know .
I might tell someone that I am on my way to revive so they dont use up a gel or" I will get this device" Nothing worse than someone talking constantly during a game .
Annoying and distracting.
