I'd rather not. Since I hate when "backwater country, planet, continent" always seems to be the center of the world.

I prefer visiting newer places around Thedas.
Although it would be interesting to see how much Fereldan has changed in the last 10 years after DA:O. But at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if there was little change at all.

We will also be spending quite a bit of time in Orliais since the majority of the events take place their aswell which was in Laidlaw's quote, we will see other regions just don't know how long we will spend there as part of the main plot but we can travel freely so it won't be that bad and I'm wondering how everything changed.
So Orliais, Ferelden(confirmed) possibly Neverra, The Free Marches(on loading screens), Kirkwall, Tevinter Imperium look to be the regions we will be able to go to though that might not be all

Our journey covers from Western Orlais to Eastern Ferelden. Also new places we never played in DA:O in Ferelden will be visited.

That's really sad to hear. I just do not like backwaters as a setting for RPGs.
The tweet actually says that the majority of the game will take place in Ferelden and Orlais, so you won't have to worry too much. I hope some of the game takes us to another country besides those two, though, like maybe Nevarra or a new location in the Free Marches, like Starkhaven.

As others have said, Ferelden is a backwater that I have little inclination to visit again. Ferelden is one of those very "Standard Medieval England" type of fantasy settings that bores me. But if DA:I manages to spiff it up, I'll be interested. Meanwhile we got exotic places like Orlais, Nevarra, Antiva, Rivain, Seheron, Par Vollen, and Tevinter. Especially Tevinter.

Ah, well. It'll be kind of nice to revisit the old country (hopefully Redcliffe isn't all mud all the time in the Frostbite engine) and see how things are going. I was personally hoping for someplace like Riavan for my Snarkquisitor to play in, but.... meeh. As long as the story and game is amazing, I won't mind a bit.

Orzammar was an awesome place to be in. I'd love to see it again.

Hmmm, sounds like from some of the quotes we may be spending more time in Fereldan than I had thought. I started this thread to discuss how interesting it would be to see some familiar places all prettied up with the new engine. Here's to hoping that not too much of our time is spent in Fereldan, as tiktac said, I have some affection for the place but Thedas is a big old world and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it.
Orlais should be fun, lots of good palace intrigue possibilities there.

Additionally, if we do get to revisit a familiar joint, how different are we expecting places to be? Specifically are people going to be accepting of some pretty significant art/layout changes that break consistency with the earlier look?
For the most part that won't bother me as long as the general feel of the location is there. Take Orzammar for example, its essentially the heart of Dwarven culture in Thedas (as far as I know, I'm not as well versed on the lore as others.) Realistically I'd expect the place to be a lot bigger than what we saw. Of course suspension of disbelief is required and limits of technology/resources etc. So if we were to travel back to Orzammar I'd expect the place to look bigger, more splendid, etc but the tiered city to be intact.

I'm one of the ones who are really looking forward to revisiting Ferelden. I hope there will be a mix of places we went to in DA:O and new ones as well. I'd like to see how the country is doing 10 years or more after the Blight. I'm also happy that we'll be doing a lot in Orlais. I think the devs are going to give us a good mix of old familiar places and shiny new places to visit in game.

Ferelden does appear in the game, and one of the many keeps you can have and areas you can influence is in ferelden. But if I recall they said at the panel that area was one of the smaller ones.

The only locations from Fereldan that I care about revisiting are Denerim, Amaranthine/Vigil's Keep, and Orzammar. Other than that, I wish we could go somewhere new and, dare I say it, more interesting. Gimme Val Royeux, darnit!
