Maybe my character will name herself Mortis? Because she's just that
"edgy, and deep"?

Nah.

Except that they give some hint what Bioware is more likely to do.

They really don't. They chose human noble over human commoner.

They choose backstory based on what they find interesting and will mesh with the rest of the game, not statistical liklihoods.

The laws of narrative are far stranger that the laws of chance.

Ashkaari ("one who seeks") seems apt for the inquisitor if you want to go with Qunlat.

Rumor has it though that the Qunquisitor will either have been raised outside the Qun or has spent a long time away from it, so you could conceivably use any name you want.

There's a bit of banter between Zevran and Sten that shows the Tal-Vashoth still use the titles of the Qunari, such as sten, karashok, avaard, etc. and in DA2 the Tal-Vashoth mercenary encountered in Act 1 comes back as Meraas (not sure about the spelling but he explains it means what he wants it to - what he is) in act 3. If the Qunari inquisitor is Tal-Vashoth any name will work since the inquisitor is now defining his or her role.

Good point. I guess a Vashoth/Tal-Vashoth could use Qunlati if he/she wanted to. Whether the name it fits their personality, or for simply for the sake of irony.

Point taken, but I think being an immigrant from a completely alien culture sounds interesting enough to qualify.

Hence a mage who calls himself "Tal'Saar."

"Dangerous? You have no idea." *waves to his soldiers* "Ready, normal people?"

"Thinking up an apropriate name for your Qunari/Kossith character". Its like a Pre-Game side quest for roleplayers.

Regarding the OP's point about not using the Qunlat (Qunari language) to name the PC, I don't think that's an issue; Tal-Vashoth are outside the Qun, but still use the Qunlat to describe themselves. It's a bit like a former Jew still being happy to speak Yiddish: the language isn't necessarily exclusive to the religion.

Anyway , there's already another thread on the front page that has a pretty similar premise to this one, but since everyone seems to be posting here now (and because I spent so long coming up with these), I'll repost what I came up with earlier:

These translations might not be perfect, so you probably want to check the DA Wiki Qunari language page to doublecheck them -

How about "Sataareth Kost" (Defender of Peace), "Ashkaari Talan" (Seeker of Truth), Ataashi Katari (Killer of Dragons; also, more generally, Killer of Foes) Kata Meraad (the Tide of Death), or "Esaam Kadan" (One who is loved, or one who can be found where the heart lies.")

Less seriously:
"Tamasran Qalabi Vashedan" (one who speaks cow manure.)
"Ashkaari Ebasit Atashi" (one who wants to be a dragon.)
"Venak Kabethari" (annoying idiot.)

There's a fair bit of poetic license in these, but that's how the Qunlat seems to work, eg "Aban Aqun" means "the sea is calm" despite being transliterated as "sea balance".

Yeah I see it. I just wanted to make that joke.

I assume you'll be playing warrior?

Depends on the character's origin. A Tal'Vashoth who grew up in Orlais and never got indoctrinated into the Qun would have an Orlesian name, I'd figure (and a French accent, which I'd find kind of amusing).

If still in the Qun, I'd say Inquisitor is the most "lore accurate" way to go.

But I'm gonna still try to use Arvashok. Best name I could discern from the wiki's Qunlat listing to create "warrior of(the) grey". Stumbled on those prefixes a good bit... Anyway, a not-too-obvious Warden reference amuses me.
