Why do you think they put them in?  Maybe to appeal to skyrim players?  Posted Image

Nope, they're trying to get the Call of Duty crowd . . . somehow.

I sincerely hope they take the dodge roll feature out. It defeats the purpose of DEX, CON and armor. Unless there are some limitations, I can easily play as a warrior, pump everything into STR and solo the game with ease.

Umm ... because Dragon Age is an action RPG?

Is this one of those times where you guys are playing a different version of the games than I am?

Unless BioWare goes full open world and completely guts character/plot development, I doubt it.

This would require the COD crowd to actually give a damn about fantasy.

Because some people like that, and its good to have variety. What does it matter anyway? From what was shown the tactical combat is pretty damn good.

Also 3rd person combat =/= appealing to Skyrim players.

Because why not do both if you can?

If you like over the shoulder gameplay, use it. Don't go on the forums and demand to know why they bothered with the tactical cam.

Or if you're like me, use both when I feel like using them. Then come on the forums and look at people who have inflexibly strong feelings about it like they're space aliens.

Do the Bethesda and/or Obsidian forums have threads of people asking why they bothered to use VATS or include iron sights?

I was once a frequent poster on the Bethesda forums. Frequent. They complain just as much as the BSN.
Beware Community Discussion.

I'm not sure about Obsidian, though.

I'd say yes but that's not the question.

Other than personal preference, I can't really think of any reason to include or remove so-called "action RPG" elements. So, instead of asking Bioware to justify themselves, why not just say "Hey, I don't like this action RPG nonsense" and be done with it?

trafalgar law: I sincerely hope they take the dodge roll feature out. It defeats the purpose of DEX, CON and armor. Unless there are some limitations, I can easily play as a warrior, pump everything into STR and solo the game with ease.

the combat rolls isn't completely a bad thing, it comes helpful if you're against dragons, big stuff and hordes to just get out from the place really fast.

DEX could help in a way that when dodging, you have lesser chance of getting hit when doing the action. I could try to dodge an attack but with low dex, while dodging i can be stop or i can still get hit by a melee while dodging but I've gain a new position that are not flankable and I'll be able to counter. It can also give part to increase attack rates. i could swing that greatsword faster and do talents faster before the enemy could go out of reach.

CON could be helpful when you're running low with health potions and all you have is yourself and you could rely on your health to hold in there for a bit longer and higher constitution makes it possible to outlive opposition hordes and enemies that are level higher when your companion is all down. It could also help when you're far from your base and still have a long way to go and your health is not full and still surrounded by hordes.

there will still be enemies that have armor penetrating weapons but having armor won't let your other enemies deal more damage to you that much when you're concentrating on a big boss.

The DEX, CON, and armors may sounds too weak when by itself but if it is added in a gameplay, they can still be helpful.

Require? Not really. I mean yeah, the COD crowd doesn't give a damn about fantasy, but try telling EA that!

You're not offering much for us to discuss, then.

Your opinion is only as valid as its supporting argument, which you haven't presented.

Because it's more intuitive and fun to most gamers, I'd wager.

It's never been an action RPG. Unless your definition of the genre varies from others.

As for your question, OP. The only "action-y" thing I have seen is the dodge roll and harpoon, nothing really major at all. I hope BioWare learns from CDPR's mistake and gives a cool down for the dodge roll though, or else we'll have Geralt-polies all over again.
