Beating the taurus demon is simple enough, once you know how to do it. First thing first, when you pass through the fog, don't go immediately towards the tower where the taurus spawns, instead turn your back to the fog and on your left you should see a ladder going up: climb it and prepare yourself to fight two undead archers. Once they're dead, heal yourself if it's needed, take off your armor (you need to be fast, and the demon will kill you in a swipe or two considering that the armors that you find up to this point are not very strong) and descend the ladder where you came from. Go towards the tower where the demon spawns, once he shows up dash towards the tower where you killed the undead archers, climb the ladder, two-hand the strongest weapon you have (when you wield a weapon with two hands, it does more damage) and wait for the demon to reach the bottom of the tower you are. Does all of this sound familiar? it should, because now you're going to do the very same thing you did to deal massive damage to the boss in the tutorial: jump down, press attack and your character will hack the demon, taking off a huge chunk of health from the bar. Now, before the demon recovers, quickly climb the ladder again and do it again until he dies, it shouldn't take more than three of this jumps to kill him. Whatever you do, don't stay too long on the tower, or the taurus will jump up to you and maul you with that giant hammer of his!
There is also another way to beat him, if you consider this cheating (and it's not, the game itself introduces you to the "jump from above attack" to damage enemies) or making the fight too easy: if you got a hold of some bombs (there are some in the firelink shrine, the undead enemies who use them sometimes drop a couple when they die and lastly there is the undead merchant who sells them) you can toss them at the taurus, he is very vulnerable to fire damage; just remember to not be to cocky: toss him one bomb and quickly roll away, rinse and repeat. Also, if your character is a pyromancer, you can use the starting fire spell he/she has, it's lethal for most of the enemies in the starting areas, bosses included.
Well, here you go, a guide on how to kill the demon: I apologize for the lenght, but some things take long to explain properly.
Also, apologies if something is not clear or if there are errors, english is not my first language.
If you have other questions, need help, tips or hints, ask away, I'm always glad to aid a fellow player.

Making progress in Dark Souls!
Killed the taurus demon (thanks for the help with that!), got the drake sword, and I am currently occupied with repeatedly dying at the hands of the bell gargoyle. Sigh.

For the gargoyles I have a suggestion: try to use an humanity in the nearest bonfire to become human, then you can either: summon other players to help you with the bosses OR if you're playing offline (and I understand if that's the case, I usually play offline myself), you can find two npcs you can summon, provided you spoke to them: one is Knight Solaire, you meet him just before the bridge with the wyvern (coming from the taurus tower, instead of going left to the bridge, go right to the stairs, you'll find a guy with an armor decorated with a smiling sun): speak to him twice and say "yes" to whatever he's asking, he'll give you a white stone which you can use to be summoned yourself by other players in order to help them, and thanks to the fact that you spoke to him, you'll start seeing his signature (it's a golden streak on the ground that you can click) before some bosses, if you click it his golden ghost will appear to help you. The second guy you can obtain aid from (but only for two bosses, one is the gargoyle fight, the other is in an area you'll arrive shortly) is Knight Lautrec, he has a golden armour, so he's easily recognized: as with Solaire, you must speak to him first; to find him, go in the church where there was a Channeler (the enemy in a funny robe who spams magic from above and doesn't respawn when killed) and his minions (who respawn, but they're easy), go to the left up to a set of stairs and keep your shield up, because a balder knight will come at you, kill him; when this is done, you should see a portion of the wall that seems breakable (it looks blocked with wood planks), hit it with your weapon and it will indeed break and reveal a passage. Go up the stairs and you will find Lautrec in a cell, he'll ask you to free him: in order to do so, you must have either the master key (gift chosen at character creation OR bought from a merchant, but it'll be too late then) or the mysterious key, which you should have gotten on your way to the church (if not, I'll explain where you can find it). Once you free Lautrec, go to the firelink shrine and you'll find him where the firekeeper is (down the stairs next to the pessimist warrior), talk to him and he'll give you a reward for freeing him (it won't look like much, but the item he gives you has its uses, so keep it
). Now that you have spoken to him in firelink and gotten your reward, you'll see his summoning sign before the gargoyles (when you go up the first ladder, if instead of climbing the other you turn around, you'll see it on the other side of the ledge, it's a white streak; Solaire's is right in front of the fog wall, you can't miss it).
If all else fails, let me know and I'll go online to aid you personally ![]()
When you fight the gargoyles, try to cut the tail of the fist one, it will net you a nice axe ![]()
Honestly there is little to focus my attention on these days besides just reading or working given there aren't really any upcoming games besides DAI i personally have much interest or stake in.

I've been wondering how significant the difference between the current and last gen versions of DA:I will be. Will the current gen versions have more or deeper features or moreover, quest and storylines? Or will those versions simply offer a step up in graphics. And if it simply a step up in graphics, will that difference be significant enough to affect gameplay.
It would be nice to know sooner rather than later, because although I will eventually upgrade, this game is likely going to be the determining factor on when that will be.
It'll mostly be in how the game looks. A situation where the gameplay is different in any sort of significant way I think would be unfair to people that get the "lesser" game.
I think most people still on a 360/PS3 can accept that the game might not have as much visual flair and maybe slower performance in places like load times, because hey it's an older console and that's a reasonable expectation. Getting a game where my gameplay is fundamentally less fun would suck. I suppose it's *possible* that we fail at that, but I think that'd be a big failure on our part.
