Gotta make sure this thread don't die.

If only I found a game to catch my interest that was actually released. (I'm a sucker for Faustian bargains.) (And no, don't try to help me with that. Among other stuff, I prefer to figure things out on my own.)

Just putting it out there, yet again, that any game that was never released on PC might as well have never existed as far as I'm concerned. Not to be supremacist or anything, but if I can't play them, then what good are they?

What sort of games do you like? Dark souls is quite good, albeit rage inducing, at least at the beginning. :)
Kingdoms of Amalur is nice but a tad repetitive in its side quest, still, it's enjoyable enough.
How about the Fallout series? Great games, all of them.
The Elder Scrolls series? Some nice games there, too.
Borderlands 1 e 2 if you want a mix of fps and rpg?
I can keep going, so stop me if you have enough of my ramblings.

Dark Souls. I did try it. I quit pretty soon out of frustration, even if it was born out of being a terribad port. I'd heard something about them later improved the port, but I could never get back into it.

Kingdoms of Amalur. I have so many hours into that game like you have no idea. Not my most exstreme example of "I play the crap out of this game," but still, somewhere around a hundred, at least.

The Fallout series. Yea, I've been delving into that series, including the first two games and Tactics, but 3 and Vegas are the only ones I ever played enough to finish the main story.

The Elder Scrolls series. Started playing The Elder Scrolls with Morrowind, and was just participating in the previous weekend's stress test of ESO. Not to mention my 256 hours into Skyrim. I also dipped my toes carefully into TES I and II, after Bethesda made them available as free downloads on their site, but it was barely half an hour, at most, before I couldn't be bothered.

Borderlands. Let me put it this way. As a rule, I do not like FPS games, but the Borderlands games turned out to be more than just an exception to that rule. I haven't touched them in quite a while though, nor do I feel any desire to pick them up again, for now.

I did say "don't try to help me," but I appreciate the effort nonetheless.

The general rule with older games, as in real old, 10 years and more, is that the outdated graphics turns me away, even if everything else makes it the perfect game for me. Which, to be frank, I find rather sad, and frustrating. The only exceptions are cases of nostalgia, but I was introduced to the RPG scene with KotOR, Morrowind and NwN.

But anyway. The anticipation for Inquisition is palpable.

I didn't see the "no helping" part, my apologies.

No need for that. As I said, I appreciate the effort. My experience is though, that most of the time, people end up suggesting games I either have already tried, whether I liked them or not, or games that I have no interest at all in so much as trying.

Your suggestions were good ones, even if I didn't get anything out of them, this time.

Hopefully we'll get some information today, it should help to ease the pain of waiting for the game.

Hey now, hey.

Be careful. As painful as the wait is, you don't want to crack open your skull. Trust me. Have a cookie instead.

You might want to do something about that.

Trust me; it isn't.

Also, the latter sticks with you for much longer than the painful anticipation will.

Sorry for not posting in here for quite a while. My (gaming) computer broke down and I had to turn it in for repairs which is where it's been for the last week. Got it back today, and although I only had time to play for a short while before I had to return to work I did manage to kill that headless creature guarding the entrance to the forest area and upgrade my estus flasks.!

Question of the day: The blacksmith before the forest area i selling something like the "keystone of artorias" or something something, which I suppose is the key to starting the DLC areas. Should I buy the keystone for 20k souls (I'm farming the stone guardians which gives me +600 souls a kill, have 12k souls right now), or is the DLC way too hard at my current level and should I instead spend the souls on leveling up?

tbh I had no interest in DA:I but after the trailer they released the other day, I'm mildly interested now, enough so that I'm considering buying it on release day.

I'm midway through my "canon" run with both games to get my Dragon Age fix for now. Just started with Dragon Age 2, going to try to do as many as possible (since I previously pretty much rushed through the game). Hell, I've never even had Fenris as a companion!

You don't have to complete playthroughs for DA:I, since your savefiles can't be uploaded to DA:I anyway. The only way to create savefiles with choices from the past two games and all DLC will be through the dragon age keep.

Aw, man, I'm sorry for your pc. :(

The crest of Artorias is used to unlock the big door near the bonfire in the garden (the one you discover by hitting a fake wall), which will bring you to the forest area, where at some point you'll have to do a boss fight to progress the main story. If you want to go to the dlc area, the path is different.
To unlock the area, you have to first progress the main storyline: if you haven't already, ring both bells (the one guarded by the gargoyles is one, and you already ringed it; the second one is in Blight Town. To go to Blight Town you first have to access the Depths, that are unlocked only after you defeat the Capra Demon in Lower Undead Burg. You can reach Lower Undead Burg by using the "basement key" and open the door that was before the bridge with the wyvern.).

Once you ring both bells, a cutscene will show you that hte gate to Sen's Fortress is open. You'll have to go through a heavily contorted and trapped area and defeat its boss. When you manage to do that, you'll be able to go to Anor Londo, the city of gods. There, you'll have to defeat the bosses (it's a boss fight with two bosses at the same time). Once defeated, you'll get to a chamber were you'll be given by an npc (not telling you who is it to avoid spoilers ;)) an item called the Lordvessel.

This item is important and extremely useful: by having it, you can now teleport to any bonfires you have lit and rested in. No more walking miles to go to some places! When you have this item, another npc (again, not telling who is it to avoid spoilers) who gave you the task to find the Lordvessel in the first place, will take you to a location were you'll have to "place" the Lordvessel on an altar of sorts (don't worry, you'll get it back and still be able to teleport to bonfires). Once done, the golden fogs, different from the white ones because they are guarding the major bosses of the game and you can't pass them like the white ones, will disappear from every major boss, a cutscene will show you the locations. Once the golden fogs are gone, you should go to a place called the Duke Archives. there, you will find in one area a crystal golem, after slaying you'll receive a broken pendant. Although, I recommend to first do what I suggest in the next step and then going here to kill the golem, to avoid a bug.

Next stop is the darkroot basin, in particular the area where the Hydra is. If you haven't already, kill the Hydra. You'll be able to go to the area behind the beast and find a cavern. In the cavern you'll see a golden golem. This is a particular golem, because it contains a person, so when you see that its health is almost depleted, don't strike it too much or you risk of killing the person who is freed. The person in question is a young lady, she'll thank you and from that moment she'll become a magic seller.

Now, save in the same spot where you killed the golden golem and rescued the lady, reload and you'll find a dark vortex floating in the air. Touching it will bring you to the dlc area, where there is not a direct way to come back, but you can use the Lordvessel to teleport to the main game, so no worries there.

Basically, it's a bit too early to do the dlc stuff just yet, you have to progress the main game a fair bit. ^_^

I know that, it's just that by doing my "canon" run, while I also get to play through both games again (yay! ^_^), I make the choices within the game (keep in mind that I found my previous playthroughs not suited to be "my canon"). I'll put them into the Keep, yeah sure, but at least I won't make the choices on a website, or whatever the format the Keep will be. I don't want a "canon run" to exist outside of the games, saves for Inquisition being importable or not.

Okay, I just got the feeling you were forcing yourself to do lots of playthroughs for when DA:I gets released, but I can totally understand why you'd want to replay the games anyways! Also, I wouldn't worry about the keep being "only" a website where you fill out your past choices, if Bioware are keeping true to what they've said the keep will be very "interactive", whatever that means.

I was satisfied with the Mass Effect virtual comics for the second and third game. I'm certain the Keep will not disappoint.

Oh, I definitely have faith in BioWare making the Keep something awesome. I just want my canon choices to exist in-game and not only in-Keep.

Update from Dark souls!

I was on a total roll tonight! Started off by killing the moonlight butterfly, looted his tower, ran back to the blacksmith and didn't give him the blacksmith soul ( I figured I coul always give it to him later, or to some other blacksmith. I hope I'm right and haven't wasted a really important chance here!), opened thebasement key or whatever on the bridge with the wyvern, freed some mage guy, looted stuff, Killed the capra demon and opened up the shortcut to the firelink shrine. Then I entered the depths, managed to kill the two butcherers, looted all the stuff and freed some guy in there aswell, ran inside the labyrinth and cleared the entire place of loot. Found the shortcut from the merchant in the labyrinth to the entrance to the depths, killed the giant rat miniboss, and then ran down and killed the gaping dragon. Since I figured the nearest bonfire was so very far away (firelink shrine), I didn't want to run back and refill my flasks, which had run out before even killing the giant rat, so when I finally got to the gaping dragon I was sure I'd die. Somehow I didn't and managed to clear the entire depths area in one run! Sadly I forgot to cut the tail of the dragon, so I missed out on the axe, but I don't really mind. After that I wondered for some time if I should jump down the waterfall from where the gaping dragon spawns, thinking that it was the way leading forward. I didn't jump though, and decided to run back to the shrine to refill my estus flasks and level up (I had 44 000 souls now). On the way back I found the bonfire right next to the giant rat boss, so that's where I decided to stop for now.

Where should I go next? I though the depths would lead me to blighttown, but it seems to be a dead end.
