If I get an elemental weapon upgrade I'll probably go with chaos. Chaos is never a bad thing and I'm already a chaos servant. Gotta stick with my RP, am I right? :P

Chaos does more damage than fire, but remember that for it to work you must have 10 humanities in the counter, which is not easy in a game where dying is the bread and butter of the main character. ;)

And if you truly want to roleplay a chaos servant, use Queelag soul to forge a special katana that does more damage than the others at the cost of taking off 20 of your hps every time you successfully hit the enemy: through the suffering the blade inflicts to you, atone for the fact that you murdered the only person in the world that cared about and could communicate with the poor Chaos Covenant lady, and give her as many humanities as you can to ease her physical pain. :P

But I DIDN'T KNOW! If she hadn't attacked me on sight I wouldn't have had to kill her! :(

I managed to get to the bonfire at the top of sen's fortress. It took me *only* about two hours of repeatedly dying. Blighttown have nothing on this place. I'm currently focusing on exploring the fortress, since I start at the top of it anyway it doesn't hurt quite as much to die anymore. I've only tested the iron golem once but he stomped me to death pretty fast.

Yeah, use ranged weapons or magic\pyromancy, don't get too close to it or it'll completely annihilate you.

By your third playthrough, you'll be tearing through Sen's Fortress in record time.

At this point, it couldn't hurt to jump the gap in the broken bridge and buy the Thunder Stoneplate from the Crestfallen Merchant. It'll come in handy later on.

Or fall down into the sludge pits and you inadvertently pick a fight with two prowling demons with no estus and low health. I nearly made it out of the area but they got me in the end. :'(

Besides school and family obligations, I'm spending the next 6 months (and beyond) pursuing a relationship with a particular young woman (a fellow forumite). Things are going pretty well.

The wait for DAI is not that bad actually.

Well, to be fair the protagonist just always barge in the zone of the boss flailing his/her weapons and fully armored. He/she basically invades the domain/house/whatever of the area boss while he/she/it is minding his/her/its own business, it's only natural that the bosses don't like this and attack the main character. :P

Ah, Sen's Fortress. The most trapped, deadly area of the game. If you don't pay attention for just one second, you die. Gotta love that area.
And yes, engage the golem with ranged attacks, or summon Iron Tarkus to have an helping hand if you really want to melee him. Be warned though, Iron Tarkus is a beast, he's capable of single-handedly slay the golem, so summoning him could take away the challenge.

And yes, pay a visit to the Crestfallen Merchant if you can, he has some useful stuff to sell. :)

Finished Sen's fortress. One of the scariest things I've ever seen was when the chest ate me. It literally made me scream, I was completely unprepared for that! xD

Now I'm in Anor Londo. Only managed to reach the bonfire thus far, but I'll venture onwards later this evening.

I just want to thank all of you who help me with this, I really appreciate all the advices and your engagement in this makes me want to play the game even more.

Two noobish questions: Is it possible to throw/ sell stuff that otherwise fill up my bags? I have about 10x hollow warrior waistcloths by now, not to mention all the broken shortswords. Also, when I beat the game and start a NG+, do I have to be the same class, or can a switch to something else? I want to try playing a pyromancer my next playthrough.

From now on, before opening a chest strike it with your weapon first, there are more of those mimics.

Do you remember the creepy giant snake at firelink? You can trade items you don't want with souls, although he won't give you much for worthless items it's still better than nothing. The more valuable an object, the more souls you get, but of course, usually valuable objects are things you may want to keep and use. Still, you get your inventory/bottomless bag list less clogged and get some souls in return.
For the moment though, just press on and try to take down the boss, so you can have the Lordvessel and teleport at will.

No, when you get to NG+ you do so with the same character, you get to keep all your items, weapons, amors, etc with a few exceptions (things like quest items and keys are taken away and you must find them again), you keep your level, and so on.

Also, no point in starting a new character just for pyromancy, because pyromancies don't scale with any stat; they're basically free magic, anyone can use it efficiently, to make the pyromancies more powerful you just have to improve the glove with Laurentius (you freed him, he should be in firelink, just before the giant snake) and bam! Pyromancies do more damage/are more effective. So, if you want to try pyromancies, equip the flame, equip a pyromancy spell and you're set.
Oh, to equip a spell/pyromancy/miracle you first need to have at least have 10 attunement for one slot, 12 for two, and so on. It goes up to a max of 10 slots but to have 10 slots you need to level attunement to 50, I wouldn't recommend doing something like that even for a mage character. For 16 points in attunement you can have 4 slots and those are more than enough, if you ask me.

Ah, Anor Londo. I love that place :)

I mean, I hate 1 specific knight / archer guy, but I really like the rest!

Also, beating the boss

Spoiler
was incredibly rewarding.

Oh, another thing: remember to check the painting!  You'll know when you see it :P

It's a visually beautiful area, yes. :)

Eh, I had to grind and overlevel to stand a chance, but after winning that boss fight I felt like from that moment on nothing could possibly stop me.
How wrong I was. How very, very wrong.

He has to possess a certain item to even check it, though. ;)

I've managed to get to the bonfire inside the anor londo cathedral/ castle, but I'm pretty much stuck. I upgraded the man-snake greatsword to +5 but it still seems very inefficient, and I pretty much have to chug 1-2 flasks for each silver knight I meet. I got a crystal halberd earlier from a mimic which I used to get past the two silver knights on the outside of the cathedral (took me only like 3 hours to get past those guys), but now it's almost completely worn down and I don't dare use it.

You could try to upgrade the sword further, but that would require going all the way back to the blacksmith of the church. If you bought the tools to do the basic upgrades to armour and weapons, you could upgrade your shield and armour, provided that you have some basic titanites.
If all of this is not feasible, my suggestion is to try to memorize the silver knights' attacks, so you know when to strike and when to raise your shield or dodge. If you can't dodge because your armour is too heavy, try to wear something lighter: even taking off the heavy chest and putting on some light armour chest could help you to dodge fast while having some poise, expecially if you wear the wolf ring.
Don't give up now, because you'll soon find a new blacksmith (the one who ascends weapons to make them do lightning damage or to transform them in special weapons with the bosses' souls) and a shortcut so you won't have to do all the twin archers part ever again.

Yeah the archers, total d**** I just run across and take out the one on the right first and then go for the left one out of bitter hatred. The worst is yet to come...

Just today I started a Dark Playthrough of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II. I never played the original except for one time at a friend's house and I never completed this one when my mom bought it for me so many years ago (and I was a little over 10), though I enjoyed it immensely. I remember fighting a few Mandalorians on a grassy field quite a ways into the game as the last thing I did before never touching it again.
My, what a nostalgia boost that was today. Oh, and the graphics seem to have worsened a little, but I do not mind (I suffer from everything-looked-amazing-when-I-was-a-kid). But I know one thing for sure:

I am going on an adventure.

An adventure indeed. KotOR2 is one of my favourite games ever, and I've only appreciated it more with time.

Damn it. Now I want to play it again.

Are you playing with the Restored Content Mod ?

No mods. Just vanilla, eat least until I completed it once.

That's one fancy looking suit, Bird. :D

I've never played the KotOR games, but perhaps I'll check it out after I'm done with DS and DS2.

Speaking of dark souls, I fought against Ornstein and Smough last night. I've managed to kill Smough two times, but beefed up Ornstein is just too much. I know killing Smough last is easier, but I really want Ornstein's armor (someone told me the one I kill last will have his armor become aquireable).

If you're human you can call a certain someone for a little Jolly Co-operation! He's on the left staircase facing the white fog door.
