No rapped evrey bring the entire package. I listend to eminem, liked the lyris and the beats, but he talked about having sex with his stepfather and random stupid things. Ilistened to early three six mafia, and they had prerty good beats, but then I listened to the actual lyrics and lost brains cells. The clipse used cleaver metaphors, but had poppy beats, and referenced cocaine in every other line.
And RATM is not rap...it hard rock.
couldn't understand 1st sentence... and i don't usually listen to eminem, but know him... I don't think he made a lyric with him having sex with his stepfather, lol
and you have to blame yourself there, three 6 mafia has dirty lyrics all over, but their beats are extremely well placed.
Again, these artists are more of the trashy ones. Plus not everyone listens to either one.

I killed another man today
Shot him in the back cause he ran away
Then I blew up his hut with a hand grenade
Cut his wife throat as she put her hands to pray
Just five more dogs, then could get a soccer ball
That's what my commander says
How old? Well I'm like ten, eleven
Been fighting since I was like six or seven
Now I don't know much about where I'm from
But I know I strike fear everywhere I come
Government wants me dead so I wear my gun
I really want the rocket launcher but I'm still too young
This candy gives me courage to fear no one
To feel no pain and hear no tongue
So I hear no screams and shed no tear
If I'm in your dreams then your end is near
Little weapon, little weapon, little weapon
We're calling you, there's a war
But the guns are just too tall for you
We'll find you something small to use
Little weapon, little weapon, little weapon
We need now, pow
Now here comes the march of the boy brigade
A McCar parade of the toys he made
And in shimmer shades who looks half his age
About half the size of the flags they waved
And camouflage suits made to fit youths
Cause the ones off dead soldier fits a little loose
Find More lyrics at www.sweetslyrics.com
With AK-47 that they shooting into heaven
Like they trying to kill the Jetsons
Cute, smileless, heartless, violent
Childhood destroyed, avoided of all childish ways
Can't write their own names
Or read the words on their own graves
Think you gangsta popped a few rounds
These kids will come through and murder a whole town
And sit back and smoke and watch it burn down
The grave gets deeper the further we go down
Little weapon, little weapon, little weapon
We're calling you, there's a war
But the guns are just too tall for you
We'll find you something small to use
Little weapon, little weapon, little weapon
We need you now, pow
Yeah, Lupe Fiasco has no depth whatsoever, it's only a song about child soldiers. Those lyrics are all about dealing drugs, and getting rims, and the beat on that song is awful too!
Yet still...it revolves around violence...

There. That's about as subjective and unjustified as half of the nonsense spewed out here. Why? Because it's all a bunch of goddamn opinion. Opinions are fun to argue, provided you don't explode in indignant outrage (/eyebrows), but it's like shoving a five pound slice of tofu down a meat-lover's throat in an attempt to make him vegetarian.
And to think this was a thread about Mexicans deprecating themselves by adhering to racial stereotypes...

Here's my criticism of the music you listen to: Mainstream.DeathCultArm wrote...

Every artist you've ever bought up, as far as I know, has been mainstream. Manufactured for the masses. If you like it, cool. I just find it strange. Maybe you listen to more than mainstream anyway. It just sems it could warp your perception on this matter.
Anyway, I, personally, cannot stand death metal at all. I recognize their talents, when their there. They just don't appeal to me. In fact, I don't generally like Crust, even though I generally like the lyrics, instrumentation, and people. Just don't like the vocals. I can sort of tell when a band is awesome but just not appealing TO ME.
Just because a track doesn't appeal to me doesn't mean that it's just bad music. I don't get to decide other people's reactions to music. Neither do you.
What do you call what RATM's vocalist does on their tracks?

Oh just what does that imply? Could it possibly be that whatever comes after it doesn't take actual talent?

it's also easy to make points when you take everyting literal. I'm sure some rappers do have talent, but it doesn't require any to do so...there...It's funny i'm the ignoreant one, yet your being condescending for no reason.

all these artists you listed are the ones that have potential trash lyrics... Seriously
slaughterhouse
eminem
three six mafia
Infact, everyone who doesn't like rap tends to list these same artists for some reason...

I'm condenscending cause you came into a thread throwing stereotypes all over the place, not knowing what you were talking about. Then you made yourself look like an idiot by completely missing the point about the child soldier song, and to make things worse you denied doing something I could quote you doing. And now that I've made you look foolish you're back tracking. You deserve to be talked down to and I'm just the one to do it.
p.s. Being ignorant has NOTHING to do with being condescending. Being as I know what I'm takling about, I'm clearly not the ignorant one here.

Yeah, I know you're not attacking me, don't worry! I'm not as weak-skinned as a certain guy I met.LucidStrike wrote...
Marlina, remember that I'm not attacking you. Also, consider that that person's issue probably wasn't specifically with you. It's a global issue that's biigger than both of you. You have to look at the big picture. You seem to be viewing it as just an insular, isolated confrontation between you and some unreasonably irritable individual.
Not everyone is going to accept your apologies, no matter how genuine. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't apologize when appropriate. Even when you can't do it all, do what you can, as they say.
When I say brushing things off is not the thing to do, I'm also considering perspective. When someone makes a comment on something from a perspective that isn't yours, consider that that person may see things that you can't. That's how perspective works. If a female says something is sexist or a queer individual says something is queerphobic, I'm going to consider it seriously, even if, from MY perspective, I can't see any sexism or queerphobia. Even if there claims weren't 'rational', I wouldn't be dismissive and disrespectful about it, just as I wouldn't dismiss someone who claims to have been sexually harrassed or assaulted.
Be careful about supposing that you aren't racist at all. Again, perspective. As much as I try to dismantle patriarchy within myself and beyond, I don't get to declare that I'm not patriarchal at all. That's for females to judge.
If you want, I'd like to link a good resource for this and a lot of other stuff.
To me, it WAS an isolated, insular issue. I've never ever been accused of something like that before, and I've never met someone as irritable as this guy. Like I said, I understand that I needed to view it from his perspective, but he wouldn't let me. Besides, come on, cut a random clerk some slack, I was working my ass off!
And really, I'm not racist. Really. You don't believe me?
One thing though: Do you suppose that, as long as someone considers something racist/sexist/whatever, it is? I find that sort of silly. I mean, if I, for some weird reason, consider your opinions racist, then would it be like that, even though i have no logic to justify my claims?

I understand it was a child soldier song. But how ironic is it when a rapper thinks out side the box, it still consitst of thing in said box.
And sure being good at rapping requires some form of talnet, but majority of them are quite sucessful w/o any. Yeah it becomes a little harder to get your point acrorss, when you're attacked by most of the thread...weird, huh?

Everyting i've said has been true. If you expect me to know every rapper ever, well.. I'm afraid it's a feat not yet accomplished. And a genre can't be too great, if you have to dig so deep for quality music.

I didn't have to dig for anything. I found it in all of 2 seconds, cause like I said, I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT whereas you're just speaking in generalities because you don't. And there's nothing ironic about it. The song involes violence, it's not ABOUT violence. Again, you've entirely missed the point of what should have been painfully obvious. If you want to say you don't enjoy rap, go right on ahead. But these sweeping statements of yours about how the MAJORITY are so successful while not having any amount of talent makes you look like the incredibly ignorant person you are. If the majority have no talent, then you should be able to make a comparatively good beat and lyrics to go with them. Please, I've given you the tools, now go do it. Remember me when you become famous.
