...aaaaaaaaaaaaaand here's a Qunari

See my point?
So am I being too literal and academic in my skepticism or does Bioware really mean to have the HORNED or big hulky variety (e.g. Sten, Arishock, or Rasaan)?

Yes, they mean the large, metallic-skinned people with the horns! They have confirmed this.

They meant the race, not culture.
They gave plenty context. They talked about race then showed a GREY HORNED GIANT on the TV.Faerunner wrote...

They sure went out of their way to distinguish the two by using the one blanket term without giving context.

This has been answered a million times already. The said Qunari is a playable RACE and the concept art shows grey skinned horned giants as the Inquisitor.
As with all forums, you should see if your question has been answered before you ask it.

Welllll...I kinda thought it would be the kind we all were hoping for. I'm not cynical and jaded enough to think Bioware would play a semantics based prank on us and troll fans with an elf.
However, I had a little voice of dobut was whispering (not indoctrination, do not start with me...), so I needed that silenced.
Incidentally, what are these horned beings called other than Qunari? I thought that was stated in a codex or in that Mark of the Assassin DLC but it's been a while.

You've gotta be trolling at this point.

Devs call them qunari, that's enough for me. "Kossith" is for people who are obsessed with a lore.
Bioware shouldn't really make a confusion with this bull**** like "kossith", "tal-vashoth" etc. But it's not the only thing they failed in DA2.
