To BioWare Writers - what is the ending that you gravitate to?

I see that the BioWare writers are active on the forums so I'd love to get their opinions... My Q to them is:

If you play the game as a player, which ending would you normally get? I'm not asking what the "canon" ending for you is in terms of how the story is designed/outlined. But what decisions would you normally make in the game that feels "right" for you as simply a player of the game (basically how would you play it)... hence what ending would you get in such a scenario (spare Loghain? Accept Morrigan's offer? Romance Leliana? etc)?

Would be great to see how a BioWare writer would play it.

Thanks

Good topic. I bet the expansion will provide a little bit of insight into this.

Actually I'm not so sure about that... I'm guessing that the "canon" ending that will continue the storyline in the expansion might not be what the writers themselves would get if they were playing the game themselves and making decisions as a player.

I will be interested in how it plays out if you pick the new beginning. Clearly the main PC would have chosen sacrifice.

Good topic. I'm very interested to hear what the writers thing about the various ending, both personally, and in terms of the story.

I usually play the best "good" path I can when I'm playing for fun. I like that in Dragon Age there are choices which really aren't clear what that decision is. I usually try and get Alistair to marry Anora for the good of the kingdom. And as creepy as it is, I accept Morrigan's deal because I couldn't bear to let a comrade die (or myself). Usually Morrigan is a close friend by the end, so I'm inclined to trust a friend (and she sounds sincere-ish). But I've played just about every variation of everything at one point or another. :)

LOL...for some reason, that cracked me up. She doesn't sound sincere...no no, she sounds sincere-ish. Which is actually a really good description...

Hee hee. If Morrigan sounded completely sincere, I wouldn't believe her at that point.

Thanks for your reply Ferret!

btw - when you accept Morrigan's deal, are in a romance with her or anyone else? And also who do you support - Harrowmont or Bhelen? This has always been the hardest choice for me when I play the "good" path.

I usually pick Harrowmont, but there's no good choice there. He's the lesser of two evils. If my character was prescient, I'd pick Bhelen. I like the idea of dragging Orzammar kicking and screaming into "modern" times.

Is Harrowmont really the lesser? That's what I thought in my first playthrough when I wanted to make the "good" choice but in hindsight I realize that I missed a lot of details, as well as the underlying deceitfulness that thrives in the dwarven society. Then again, I do remember thinking to myself that first time that Bhelen was just full of bluster and promises he didn't plan on keeping, since you don't get a chance to actually see him being effective (except at slaughtering someone in front of your eyes). I must say, I was shocked by the epilogue when it said Harrowmont was so ineffectual, but it does make sense. Kudos to you writers for disguising the "good" choice (Bhelen) so well, something I find not many writers are good at.

Sorry, this topic has been done to death already on these forums, and I didn't mean to hijack the thread (if it comes to that).

I first went thru the Orzammar thing with absolutely NO idea about Dwarven "Murder Rituals" (How my character understood the Dwarven version of "Politics"), so she decided that Human Policies could easily transferred to the Dwarves, and since Bhelen was Heir, he got helped.

What I don't get is How do you sacrifice Alistair? I somehow manage to get him to 100(love) or 100(freindly), depending on Gender, even when NOT romancing him?

Fun indeed. I've always had a problem with being able to enjoy these games while making morally suspect decisions. My first character was an all around nice person with a bit of a mean streak, though they never did anything out right cruel. I'm on a play through now and I just hate my character so much.
