Major facepalm.

There is nothing homophobic or biphobic about not wanting to pursue one of those romances. And it is a perfectly valid complaint to to say that Bioware went overboard on the lesbians.

Or would the thread title be acceptable if bi/les were swapped out with the word straight?

Yeah, it's not about homophobia. It's about Bioware trying to make female Shepards go for other woman because "lesbians are hot" and making you have as crappy as options as they can get away with for straight romances so that you do the hot thing and make it girl-on-girl. Bioware wants female Shepards having HLS (figure out what those letters mean, shouldn't be difficult), and they will try to punish you if you decide your Shepard should be straight.

I think we can all agree that Kelly and Diana Allers are not exactly serious romances in ME3. Traynor's romance arc is also pretty shallow compared to the others (Garrus, Kaidan). That leaves Liara as the only full-blown lesbian/bi love interest. I don't see how "Bioware went overboard on the lesbians".

I know that pic, and it's nonsense imo.

I think quality is more valuable than quantity. Garrus and Kaidan do have two of the better romances (content-wise) in ME3. Straight ManShep/lesbian FemShep may have more quantity, but the majority of those don't have quality backing them up.

I mean...Diana Allers?

Shep: Sex?
Diana: Yep, just don't tell anyone

Then it's a kiss/fade to black...and never mentioned in the game again.

Do you consider Kelly/traynor or diana allers to be more then a joke romance added just to pad out the options a bit? There is only 1 of those 4 i would consider actually having a more serious romance arc, Traynor could be the exception but that one is a bit shallow as well.

You realize you're actually hurting your own point, right? The entire problem is that Femshep in general gets a hell of a lot less, and literally half the straight romances blow up in your face. Yeah Allers barely counts... And yet it's one of the 1/6 viable romances as opposed to her just being 1/10 like for male Shepard. Literally more then half the romances femShep has (not counting the 2 who screw you over like Thane and Jacob) are gay romances. You really think Bioware isn't trying to say something there? Maybe "lesbians are hot and you should totally go for that"?

I actually do count Thane, especially after the Citadel DLC, as a viable romance. The scenes made for it are beyond emotional and bring the same level as the others.

Plus, he is terminally ill and they are at war.

The point is that both Garrus and Kaidan have more content than Kelly, Diana and Traynor together. Kelly and Diana don't even appear in the citadel DLC (at least Thane's romance is mentioned). As for male Shepard...you have Liara, Tali and Ashley as full blown romances. Miranda and Jack got very little romance content. And we have Kelly and Allers again.

If we count the full-blown romances in ME3 (and keep in mind that only 18% of people ever play FemShep...)
Straight FemShep: 2 (Kaidan, Garrus)
Lesbian FemShep: 1 (Liara)
Straight ManShep: 3 (Liara, Ashley, Tali)
Gay ManShep: 1 (Kaidan)

With the Citadel DLC, I would say Miranda and Jack most definitely count. You can't just throw them out of hand with picking and choosing to support your argument.

Kelly and Diana Allers are barely romances at all, so I don't count them, and Samantha doesn't show up until the third game.

If you want to play as a straight Femshep but you killed/dont like Kaidan and don't want to romance a dinosaur, you're screwed.

I never got statements like that.

"I don't want to be gay."
"You're homophobic. Shut up, peole like you make America look bad."

"I don't want to date black people"
"That's racist. You should be ashamed of yourself."

Wut was that, Logic?

I think 2 romances/gender are enough.

Both Dragon Age games and BG2 had 4 love interests
Kotor had Bastila and Carth
Jade Empire had romance content for Dawn Star, Silk Fox, and Sky

There were too many romances in the ME trilogy and due to the sheer number most of them were rather shallow. Had Bioware focused on just a few each one would have been special.

As for Jack and Miranda...yes, that's my opinion, I would have been disappointed if they were my love interests in ME3. But it's pretty clear Bioware couldn't handle 13 romance arcs...

Why include that (from context clear) slur? Is everyone in the galaxy required to preserve their virginity in case Shepard should express interest at some point in the future?

Nonsense? Garrus is a walking talking lizard bird. He may or may not be a bro and have an interesting personality, but he's still a bird. Liara looks like a human at least. People that want their female Shep to have a decent man got shafted, big time. Male Shep however is pratically swimming in booty.

As a gay woman, I see a society that goes overboard on straight people and relationships.  I don't get to see my orientation validated in media like straight people enjoy.  Bioware did good offering woman to woman relationships.  I don't want them to take that away because the whiny majority wants ONLY the status quo.  Bioware SHOULD include more romance options for those who want to be straight, bi, pan, gay.  The OP could have simply complained about the lack of quality relationship options instead of taking a dump on sexual minorities.
Let's compare heterosexual pairings versus gay pairings for femshep, in case anyone wants to claim there are more bi and gay opportunities:  Kaiden, Garus, Thane, Jacob (men).  Liara, Traynor (women).  Those who want straight options have more choice.
As to your question, unless you're familiar with power dynamics and the concept of privilege, you won't appreciate what I have to say.

Kaiden is dead.
Garrus is a cockroach.
Thane dies.
Jacob cheats on you AND gets a woman pregnant.

Liara, Traynor>>>>>>>

No one is asking for gay romances to be left out. Rather, Bioware should make the femshep straight romances better.

And accusing people of being homophobic when it is not valid is a horrific thing to do.

except for the fact that thane and jacob dont even count (i mean jacob cheats on you), leaving only one hetersexual LI that is human (who may not even survive the first game). Stop complaining about the OP, because he actually has a very solid point

I'm rather xenophile, but to be honest, it's strange how FemShep got more alien romances than MaleShep. FemShep has Garrus and Thane, both have Liara and the only exclusive alien romance for MaleShep is Tali, who looks almost human herself.

As a fellow gay person I understand perfectly well how underrepresented we are in videogames. But  the point out this thread isn't bigotry and that isn't what the OP is complaining about. The complaint is that two out of four of femshep's straight romances fail. Leaving you with Kaidan and Garrus and you can lock yourself out of those before the game even starts. Leaving you with Liara and Traynor. Both gay romances. No one is asking Bioware to take them away. People are pointing out that this is grossly unfair to the straight female fandom just as male shepard's lack of male romances is unfair to the gay male fandom.

If I started a thread saying "I'm tired of femsep being straight", you'd all have a fit and flip out. Femshep forcefully, by default, flirts with Jacob when you talk with him in the armory. I lol'd the first time she says "I don't mind just talking for a bit"....it was more than suggestive. There was no option for me to roleplay otherwise. Sure, you don't have to romance him, but the come on is there.
