Is a MAC version still being considered? Anyone at Bioware?

Well… is it already certain that it's not going to happen *at all*? Because yes, I would buy an entirely new Mac to play DAI. Or pay more money for a Mac game like in the old days, no matter what the haters say.

I however would *not* buy a pc just to run DAI since I'd never use it for anything else. Sigh.

Come on, show a little love and respect to all those Mac users who have remained for loyal so long  :(

I guess until they release a FAQ file that says "there will be no Mac version," no one can be certain. That hasn't happened yet.

However, if you check the main Inquisition home page, there is no mention of a Mac version (or later port), at this point. Just 2 Xboxes, 2 Playstations, PC/Windows.

(Also, no Linux, no iOS/iPad, and no Wii version either. If anybody's actually curious.  :) )

Macs may not be optimized for gaming, particularly the heaviest-duty shooters, but OS X does fine for the kind of games I like to play most, where lots of simultaneous onscreen explosions isn't the focus of the game.

Oh, and Petroclis and BM, there's a Mac Players group here, if you want to join. I'd invite you but I'm not the owner.  :)

Considering it :)

Thing is, if I do that and they don't make a Mac version I'll be twice as disappointed :/

Some FB3 features are not compatible with the outdated OpenGL implementations of OSX, even in Mavericks.

The frostbite engine doesn't work with Macs yet. DICE is working on it. Until DICE successfully does this, there will be no porting of any Frostbite game to Mac.

If it makes you feel any better OP they still haven't ported any of the mobile "bioware" games to the windows store. XD

Yeah, the Windows Phone master race can't play that F2P Dragon Age game yet.

Wow, just happened to discover the New And Improved Bioware Forum and checked my "content" page... good to see there're still people who care about this topic.

Macs may not be optimized for gaming, particularly the heaviest-duty shooters...

Well, I'm not into shooters myself, but I'm currently alternating between Skyrim (with Hi-res mods) and Mass Effect 3. Both played through community-made Cider/Wine ports (courtesy of portingteam), both with decent framerates (at high graphics settings) and minimum lag, and fully functioning except for some random crashes every dozen hours of gameplay. On an over five-year-old MacBook Pro, by the way...

I know Frostbite is another thing, but if ports that work basically flawless can be created by hobbyists in their free time... I hope Bioware respects its tradition.

BTW, Marvin, there's a Mac Players group here. It has only 3 members. Feel free to join. I know there are more.

I guess you're referring to this. So these guys are doing it 'ad hoc'. Impressive. Wasn't sure how it ran. Thanx for the feedback.

My guess is portingteam will take a stab at DAI if there's no official Mac version/port, BTW what would make me the happiest dude in the world is if there's a Crosstie for it that lets it run under Crossover Mac ... unfortunately, the Mass Effects have not been Crossover friendly.

Codeweavers has Mass Effect 3 "known not to work" under Crossover, although I've heard conflicting reports on that,

http://www.codeweave...e/?app_id=10193

Oddly, Mass Effect 2 is Bronze ("run with caution") and the original Mass Effect is gold (which means "runs well, and supported".)

I suspect it won't do well under emulation (Parallels/Fusion) ... may have to go the Bootcamp route, as I keep saying, install Windows (again), and reboot, but oh well.

Incidentally, may I mention how ticked I am at Ubisoft saying they would release a MacOS version of Might & Magic Legacy X on 3/27, then "canceling" that release ("we need to do more testing"), and as usual not giving a timeframe for how much longer that would take.

Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 are not demanding games by any possible measure.

Well, my six year old MBP isn't actually commanding, for that matter...

ME3 runs far better than their ME2 port, which had an extremely annoying mouse wrap issue and pasty or black textures (faces, eyes, clothing) all over the place (I eventually found out how to fix this). Some now recommend running ME2 inside the ME3 wrapper...

EDIT: as I've been asked, for the "black texture" fix, install ME2 instide portingteam's ME3 wrapper, this fixes everything.

Will check out that Mac player group, thanks...

This makes me sad, I loved playing the other games on the mac and was looking forward to playing this one too.  I hate having to close down everything to play a game (i.e. bootcamp and rebooting into Windows)  and I know from experience that that's enough of a cost to playing a game that I end out not playing it.

I guess I'll either give the game a miss or just wait for a port and see if I still care once I've read the reviews and waited a while.

There is a product out there called VMWare.  It runs your Mac like a PC.  Need PC software and OS to use it, it will not transform your Apple software and apps into PC software.

It is an outstanding product.  Very stable.  When you active VMWare you Apple becomes a PC in every way. It is not Boot Camp.  It will not partition your hard drive.  It turns your Mac into a PC. You run PC software, sooooooo, the PC version of DA# should run just fine.  Look it up and check it out.
