I played 1 and 2 and romanced Liara in 1 and Miranda in 2.  When I started 3 Miranda and Liara asked me if I was still interested I said yes, but as I got further in the game I realized that I'd really like to romance Tali.  I've just connected with the Quarians and Tali and I saved Legion and now we're back on the ship,  I was reading a bit abou the Tali/Shepard romance and some of the sites said I would have had to romance her in ME2?  After the mission to save Legion she prompted me to invite her to my room, which I did, and we talked.  

I'm just wondering if I blew my chances with her because I didn't romance her in ME2.  I didn't get the "are you interested?" prompt from her, but then again I never romanced her.  I don't want to start the game over and I certainly don't want to play ME2 again, so I would appreciate any advice at this point as to what I should do.

Yes, you need to romance her in ME2. Same goes for Garrus.

You could do a rush through of ME2 on casual if you really want to go for it, same with ME3. If you REALLY don't want to play ME2 again, just leave it for a while until you want to. No rush.

Any way to do it with a savegame editor?

I'm not on PC so I'm not entirely sure, but I'm guessing its possible. Although if you plan to just start with ME3 you'll be missing the entire build up to the relationship, unless you've youtubed it already. Its the better part of the romance to me.

Yeah, the romance is especially good in ME2. A lot of the jokes between the two in ME3 are based on dialogue in ME1 and 2.

oh and welcome to the best sheploo romance out there, the Rannoch stuff is great not to mention her Citadel scenes.
