Thank you PJ, I just hope to see my placeables in a lot of modules !

By the way, I changed the sides texture of the sinkhole, to something more detailed.
And I found an example of use for this placeable...^_^

Yes the pit looks good. :)

I was wondering if it also works with an interior area, like a mine tileset?

Yes, you can use it in an interior area, but it needs a bit of work. You have to use a deep "open floor" tile (for example the one in the sunken ruins tileset) in order to place the sinkhole. And you'll have to use some placeables to hide the difference of ground texture between my placeable and the mine ground.

Indeed, I bet the dwarf pushing that cart along made for a tasty snack for whatever created that hole.

Another lab dwarf.  I have a bad feeling about this...

Is there an RSPCD?

The crack looks great but that dwarf looks awfully close to the edge.

Not to push you or anything, but would you be at all willing to make more interior tileset version of cracks and holes?  I mean in addition to the natural ones having cracks in brick, stone, and wood floors would be very useful.

Yes - a nice splintery wooden hole bursting up from underneath would be great for internal areas. Either some large burrowing creature burst up through it, or that eccentric gnome who does experiments in the basement has mixed the wrong chemicals again.

Yes, that looks good. It's too bad we don't have some sideways tree root or branch placeables to customize it.

Some of the stock fallen tree placeables would work nicely, with some rescaling. Ground twigs as well.

SoZ introduced some sideways roots (complete with fungus growing on them). They look great sticking out of eroded river banks. I've also arranged them around the bases of large trees to give them a gnarled ancient look.

rjshae : you can add some of the stock roots placeables if you want to customize this crack.

mokah : what do you mean by "tileset versions" of cracks and holes ? The one I created is only a placeable, not a real "tile", which means there are some limitations (concerning the ceiling, for example...). Creating a real tile is far beyond my skills^_^

Nice. :) So is there a way to interact with the crack?

Well, the only way to interact with the crack would be to place a collision box, or to make the placeable usable.
(Or you can folllow the way suggested by DannJ )...

Ah, so necrophilia is involved. Interesting...

I mean cracks and holes that you can use and blend well with all the interior tilesets.

Well, after hours of fighting against the deadly gang known as "gmax and the evil textures", I finally managed to realise this :

- mine shaft tile
- breached castle wall tile

As you can see, these are not placeables, but real tiles. Both are new variations of the "open floor" tile in the standard mine tileset and the "1-wall" tile in the standard castle tileset.

These 2 tiles were not easy to model, because of the annoying habit of gmax to downscale the tiles when imported, and to change some textures values. I had to fix this manually, which is a very boring task...<_<

Using tiles instead of simple placeables in an interior area have a lot of advantages : no more texture gap, no hole in the ceiling, and it's very easy to put in place -exactly like a normal tile... because it's a tile !. No problem to rotate it or tint it.

I'll now work on several tileset to add some variations which I think would be useful for modders.

Very impressive, and they match the surrounding tiles beautifully.
