Dead or Alive you're coming with me

What do I think? I'm pleased that director Jose Paglia is going in a different direction with this film. He's not doing a shot for shot remake of Paul Verhoven's original, but doing his own twist on it. From viewing the trailer, this Robocop looks to be faster and more agile than the original. Whether Joel Kinnaman will be equal to Peter Weller, remains to be seen.

Keaton, Jackson and Oldman. The height of scene chewing greatness?

I still dunno until I see it.

Edit: lazy to retype it. Not lazy enough to add this edit.

After I reposted I watched the trailer again. Keaton clearly being the big cheese at the corporation for this project and saying "Make it more tactical. Make it black" Kinda fits for me.

Not that I like it but its kind of fitting for what the setting is supposed to be.

Kinda lame that he gets blown up and not shot full of holes like in the original. Also looks more like Dredd with that black suit. Nevertheless, I look forward to this movie and hope they don't f*ck it up.

There are several actors that I like (Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Keaton, Gary Oldman), but that trailer seemed kind of bad. It looked like Officer Murphy dies from a car bomb in his own driveway instead of a brutal gang execution and that makes me sad.

I generally like seeing a twist in remakes rather than a shot-for-shot copy of the original, so I'm intrigued by it. I'm a fan of the original movie, and while I sort of doubt that the remake will be its equal, it could still be interesting. I'm familiar with Joel Kinnaman from The Killing - decent actor.

Very tentatively looking forward to it. Verhoven is a very underrrated filmmaker... so I hope this is close enough to the original but unique enough to make it worth my $12

It looks interesting. My first thought when the computer spoke to him was, "Huh. They built a Deathlok." Deathlok being a Marvel Comics character about a cyborg killing machine whose humanity overrode his programming. At the very least, I think this'll be a good popcorn movie.

Hollywood has no imagination and originality any more. :( Yet another reboot.

Was curious, then the "speak to your son" bit appeared and I realised this will be probably be crap. Another superhero film mashing cliche and tropes with underlying messages of the current political climate at its root.

Every big budget action film at the moment looks exactly the same

yea, it would have been more interesting for either old suit design or some insane random color.

Looks like another PG-13 film, a word that shouldn't be uttered in the same sentence as RoboCop. Also it looks like it follows the usual run of the mill Hollywood formula.

1. Show a lot of cool stuff in the trailer and spoil the film (granted if you've watched RoboCop you already got an idea).
2. PG-13 from the looks of it. So you can forget anything disgustingly awesome, like the guy that crashed into the acid tank.
3. Wasting time explaining how he became RoboCop. We already know it, why not make a sequel or something instead of wasting 20-30 minutes on something we don't care about. Yes, I say we cause I know I'm not alone when I write that people watch RoboCop to see him shoot rapists in the dick.
4. The humour is gone and now it's some pretend art serious BS and blabla. I bet they don't even snort cocaine in the film.
5. I didn't see Clarence Boddicker, who was essential in making RoboCop one of the best damn films ever. Yes I wrote one of the best.

So conclusion, skip.

I was struggling to find the right word to descibe how I felt about the trailer for the remake of Robocop, I think 'Intrigued' sums it up perfectly. To be honest, I was expecting it to be worse, I was kind of expecting it to 'rape' all my childhood memories of this once beloved franchise and while I am dissappointed with the whole entire car bomb thing there the tariler does a good enough of reminding me how much I once loved the Robocop movies.
