So I'm not sure how many people still hang around here. But I'm finally playing TOB and I just transfered my party from SOA:
Me (Fighter)
Minsc
Keldorn
Jaheria
Imeon
Aerie(romance)
I just need some advice on party formation....
So after running into Sarevok, I'm really intrigued to add him to the party since he'll probably make a good asset through TOB. I'm just contemplating who to kick him for. At first I thought about kicking Jaheria because she's really starting to bug me about my decision with Sarevok...and her opinions overall. But after doing some research, some people agree that Jaheria is a good asset through TOB with her druid abilities. I also figured Aerie could just fill in on the preist abilities since she does both Mage and Priest spells. I don't know if I can really bring myself to kick anybody else in the party.
But a party with Me, Sarevok, Minsc, and Keldorn at the front with Imeon and Aerie hurling spells in the back sounds pretty awesome to me.
Thoughts?

The obvious choice would be Minsc (if you can bring yourself to kick him). Sarevok really is a better version of Minsc, due to his munchkin stats.
Multiclass characters really come into their own in TOB, Jaheira and Aerie are no exception. If you're a powergamer, kick Minsc. Otherwise,, just boot the one you like least. TOB can easily be finished with any combination of characters.

Since magic (arcane, clerical, druid) is even more important in ToB than SoA, you really want to hang on to the three girls, and Keldorn with True Sight, Carsomyr, and the Dexterity Glove, is more valuable to the party than Minsc. In fact, you might even consider replacing Keldorn with one of Edwin, Nalia, Viconia or even Anomen.
But, as already said, you can successfully go thru ToB with your current party without too much additional angst.
You could try experimenting with different combos at the beginning of ToB and see what you like. And there are a few spots in ToB where a maximum Melee group - you, Sarevok, Minsc, Korgan, Keldorn and a healer, makes sense. You can keep shuttling relievers in and out of the bullpen if you want to.
It just depends how much you will miss having Boos ****** crumbs in your bedroll.

I wish the party system was more like KOTOR, I mean you have a little base where all your members and gear stay. And when you leave the base you choose your party. But wait...I guess that's what TOB is.
I just don't like when a member makes a fuss out of being kicked, I guess it makes you feel bad about it.
I did kick Jaheria once to take Valygar to the planar sphere, at that time she got really pissed because I didn't complete the Harper Quests yet. But after the Harper Quests shes understanding if I end up kicking her because she does have a place to go after reconciling with the Harpers and will be there if I ever need her again.
And no, that doesn't mean I kicked Jaheria. I'm still contemplating on who to kick. It's like choosing which wire to cut to deactivate a bomb
