Calling all story nerds:

Yes I know there is no official canon, but I am a complete DA geek and I like MY canon (again, not THE canon) stories to make as much sense as possible.

So I'm planning another DA2 runthrough to set my canon for DA:I, and I'm a little torn on how to end Act 2.

At first I thought that unless I'm actually romancing Isabela (which I won't be - Fenris all the way) I'm a little cold at the thought of her returning with the book. Isabela makes sense as a selfish thief, and the idea that Hawke is just SO inspirational she changes her ways doesn't really strike me as plausible. Plus, surely Kirkwall would lynch her if she ever showed her face in it again for her role in bringing the wrath of the Qunari down on them in the first place?

But on the flip side I'm not sure I buy the idea of the Qunari leaving Kirkwall without their precious tome either. I mean they've spent 4 years (or whatevs) as exiles because they cannot return home without it. I can't quite remember what the Arishok says leading up to the duel but baring in mind the Qunari are absolutely nothing if not dutiful, why would they just up and leave without so much as a fresh lead on the tome they've been hunting, which has been their primary focus for the last 4 years?

I suppose getting Isabela to return and then handing her over to the Qunari along with the tome is a bit of a compromise solution (and one I have no problem doing, the skanky thief), but the issue there is the title of Champion of Kirkwall rings a little bit hollow without an impressive fight to earn it.

What do you think is the most logical resolution to Act 2? Am I missing something here? Or can anyone cast any light to help me headcanon something?

She is not all selfish, she did free those slaves even though it got her into trouble with Castillon. Some of her dialogue implies this as well.

As to the title, I'd say you need to defeat the Qunari to really earn it.

Plus, you don't get a swanky statue at The Docks if you don't slay The Arishok. =]
