I understand the OGB isn't necessarily canon. You didn't do the ritual, no baby, got that.

But I don't want to have done the ritual only for a promising plotline with huge potential impact to be reduced to an arbitrary number on an "asset" list.

Either way, they're going to be pandering to one demographic or the other; either they're pandering to the people who didn't do the ritual by making it nothing or they're pandering to the people who did by making it something. I'm not making excuses or justifications; I'm shamelessly asking them to pander to my ritual-doing demographic.

Meh, I think the GB will simply being an expendable Mage minion that Morrigan will send after us after we got close to intefering with her plans. Should a player being playing on an import where they didnt' do the DR, Morrigan will instead send an expendable Pride Demon after us. Same result. Same outcome. Only difference is two or three lines of dialogue.

Yeah, because having the body of a child has made a difference for the other demon spawn we've encountered in the series.:?

I think he would be 8-9 at the end of DA:2. I'm not 100% on how shortly after DA:2 DA:I takes place, but I imagine that at least 2-3 years have passed.

Inquisition is meant to be like 3 years after DA2. He would probably be about 12 by then.

You know the DA team is different from the ME team, so I have faith in them. DA hasn't disappointed me yet. I think they will put a lot of thought into how to present the OGB, so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

A kid with a powerful mage as his mother and housing the soul of a old god....that's not exactly normal.

Dragons aren't demons.

Well if we're gonna be that technical, the GB isn't a dragon, but rather an old god in the form of a child with powers beyond imagination. Thus your insinuation that he somehow doesn't pose a threat is a little less than compelling.

I find it funny they are all "the ogb is not canon because your decisions matter" and then Leliana comes back from the dead and they are like " if we must retcon, we will"

Word. Morrigan made it very clear at the end of Witch Hunt that she was preparing him. These notions that he's somehow just a normal kid contradict the narrative.

Regardless, the way I see it, Gaider has promised to deal with this subplot. Problem is that it's an optional subplot, thus there's a good chance he's not going to utilize that many resources in an effort to address it. Hence my "GB becomes a random mook" scenario.

The problem with that is, what do you consider the end of DA2. The fight against Meredith is in 9:37, Varric's interrogation is in 9:40. DAO was set in 9:31, so if its the former he is 9-10, if its the latter he is 12-13.

There's nothing that ever indicated the Old Gods had "powers beyond imagination." They are great beasts who may or may not have taught Blood Magic (though it is equally likely to be Gaxkang and crew) and they have telepathy.

They're not world creators, even those who worshipped them never claimed they did. They've always just been smart dragons.

They could have been Flemethy dragons though. As in, not proper dragons in the vein of Andraste.

Considering that they seem to have human forms for statues.

I feel like this disclaimer or something like it should be a mandatory attachment to pretty much every post on the BSN.

It's definitely not going to be as big a deal as some people would like. I suggest low expectations so you can enjoy what you do get.

They are, in all liklihood, kings among Dragons. The first dragons maybe. And if the comics are any indication, they might have great power over the Fade. Which explains the interest in the Black City and why they would be special when Blighted.

But even acknowledging all that, it makes the child basically a dreamwalker. Which is impressive, but not necessarilly some setting defining event.

Personally, I want my non-Old God ritual player to be pandered by not having to deal with world-shattering consequences of their decision and the Old God baby potentially screwing everything up for the player (depending on your beliefs, after all).

I already paid the price by having my Warden (or Loghain depending on the playthrough) sacrificed themselves, I don't want them to turn around and say "lol it was pointless go figure".

Perhaps "powers beyond imagination" is stretching it, but they were immensely powerful nonetheless, if our encounter with Corypheus or the Archdemon are of any indication. Then there's Morrigan's entire plan to prepare the child. If he's just an ordinary kid, what was the point of risking life and limb for two years in the hopes that one of the Warden's would be crazy enough to do the horizontal shuffle with her? In light of all of this, I'm still having a hard time believing that the GB (be it the age of 9 or 12) would not prove threatening enough to serve as a random mook in a forgettably random battle.:P

It may not be OGB which changes the direction of the story in DA:I. It could be the Warden...
