I was totally shocked when Iona died after a roll in the sack with yours truly. That was not cool, made me want to get Howe more.

Yeah, my wife and I were both bawling like children.
Before you left, did you strip your mother of all her gear so you can vendor it when you reached Ostagar?

I kept my family sword and shield for the entire game in my inventory. I couldn't bring myself to vendor it, but I was miffed that my family's stuff was so weaksauce, relatively. Why does Redcliffe get better shields?

I use that mod that upgrades equipment materials for the sword, and also to stamp the Cousland heraldry on any shield I use: social.bioware.com/project/672/
Works rather well. Only downside is this gear can't appear on your online profile, not a big deal though.

The human noble origin was the first I tried. Based on the trailer(s) I was sure I would love it ... and it certainly delivered all the way. Excellent, excellent writing. I instantly felt at home in Castle Cousland, loved my family, my dog, the retainers. And even though I knew I'd lose it all in one fell swoop, the emotional impact of Howe's betrayal was still huge. That farewell scene with the dying dad and mom who chose to stay with him and defend him until her own death? I've honestly rarely been so touched in a video game (or any form of entertainment) before. Big thanks and kudos for that.

I'm glad I chose the human noble origin story as my first playthrough. It's short...but the voice acting was enough for me to bawl towards the end. I was in revenge mode the whole time I was playing.
