I wonder what would happen if Bioware made the default a elf or qunari because that will probaly skew the results.
We talk about this all the time. We have raw numbers, but that's all they are, just numbers. There is no meaning or intent in data. So we hem and haw about statistical double rainbows and how to deal with the problem, if it even is a problem. Thing is, roleplaying means different things to different players, and for many, it is the ability to play and create avatars of themselves, human males or females. Sure, some might also shrug and go with the default, but that's just as valid as someone who spends an hour fiddling with the nose on their dwarf.
It's tempting to think that
of course they'd love playing (insert other race here) if they
only knew it was there, because
you love it, and I of course want them to see it because we pour our hearts into making it. But some players just plain like different things, and there's intangible value in choices they choose not to take. That, after all, is what makes it a choice.
