So I guess everyone'll just play as a Qunari as soon as the game's released...

Nope....my first playthrough won't be a Qunari....probably my third....maybe the second.

But I am looking forward to playing as a Qunari Mage

Can you? Can you follow the Qun and be a Mage leader of the Inquisition? I though the path of Mages is to be muzzled? How would that work? Sorry for all the questions but I am curious.:wizard:

It is confirmed that qunari are open to all classes and that your qunari is does not follow the Qun. Which either makes them a Vashoth or Tal-Vashoth.

What's a Vashoth?

So many race choices, plus the keep! So long as the decisions are good this time replay value should be through the roof!

But in answer to your question. Probably not my first play. Might be a boring human to get it done with =D

What's a Vashoth?

Vashoth means grey one. Basicly a less violent Qunari who has left the Qun.

I loathe the Qunari, so I highly doubt I will ever play as one.

What's a Vashoth?

If I remember correctly, a Vashoth is a qunari(the race) that was never part of the Qun. As opposed to a Tal-Vashoth, which is a qunari who was part of the Qun and left.

The thing is that there are large two main perspectives of people in their approach to roleplaying. Half of the people who play role-playing games envision the character on the screen as themselves. They are almost always human and always the same gender as the player. They even tend to make responses and game choices as how they would if they were actually in the game as themselves.

The other half of people tend to view roleplaying as just that, playing a role. You are choosing the actions of another character in another world. These are the people that usually, but not always, choose other races and other genders. And usually the more exotic or "cool" the character is the more attractive it is to watch/play out their role.

Because of this humans will almost always be the most-played race, simply because of that first group trying to play as themselves. However, adding in a very different race like the Qunari is highly attractive to the second group.

Well I've heard of people who relate to other races better. For example some guys are shorter so they say they relate better to playing elves.

I personally tend to mix roleplaying with doing what I would do irl.

I have no interest in playing as a Qunari. Glad people can if they want though.

:lol:I bet most people won't even check out the other options  Humans? Boring. Elves? Too alien too ugly. Dwarves? One Sandal is enough for the whole series.

Well, the obvious snarky comment to make is that humans, elves, and dwarves can all be Qunari, and that you actually mean Kossith.

That said, assuming this is a serious inquiry, I'm betting that the majority of players will once again play Humans.  I doubt a Kossith character will be THAT popular.  I know that I will be playing only human or elven characters.

Man, I wish I didn't see people getting confused about qunari terminology.

And I don't blame them. I wish we'd all just call the qunari...qunari.

Instead of throwing around all these other words and making new folks go, "what?"

I note the initial confusion arose from them being called qunari

Remember this well people, It's not the size of the horns that matters, it's what you do with them that counts.

Really? I like how it can be confusing and I enjoy the debates about trying to find a terminology everyone can understand, It always brings up real life examples and I believe that's s sign the writters did it right.

I loathe the qunari. they're overrated, fake, and evil to the core.

On top of that, dwarves rukle and will always be my first choice.

On TOP of THAT, vast majority of players will still choose humans.

Except that there was no confusion. It is clear that the OP is talking about the race but as always someone feels the need to point out that the "correct way" of calling the big horned people is Kossith.

I'm undecided. I'm very tempted to play a female Qunari on my first go, but I think I'll end up playing a human or elf.

Isn't that confusion enough for you  because kossith is not more correct than qunari.

Well, a Tal Vashoth is probably the best thing to choose if you want to hate on the Qun.

If one of the Qunari backgrounds is a Female Fog Warrior, then heck yes! I'll be a Qunari Warrior... Which... actually makes sense for me. In Origins my Warden was a mage, in DA2 my Hawke was a rogue, and now I'll have a warrior :D

Noup... I'll eventualy run a playtrough with a qunari, but as in Origins, Awakening and DA2 I'll play with a Human Male Rogue in my first playthrough.

After that, I'll go with a human/elf female mage.... maybe after that I'll consider playing with a qunari.
