I'll play as a Qunari at some point, but my first character will most likely be a dwarven rogue archer.

I think part of what makes humans seem less interesting is that they're not stereotyped.

This doesn't make any sense to me.  It's NOT being a stereotype that makes something interesting.

I don't personally understand why people find humans boring as a race, because it's the story behind the race that makes it interesting, or not, to play.  In Origins I usually do play a Human, but I also play Elves, too.  And I find the elves interesting for their background story, not because elves are somehow more inherently interesting than humans.  If the elves of Dragon Age didn't have the interesting cultural backdrop of being Dalish, or being ghetto-ized second-class citizens, I wouldn't be interested in playing them at all.  But they coud as easily have those backgrounds and be human.

The reasonn why playing a human is boring is because it's basicly the same persective we already have as human most of the time. Other races atleast add a new way to look at the world.

Don't know about you, but I've never been a mage, or a noblewoman born into wealth and power and privilege; nor have I ever drank blood which cursed me with nightmares, a shortened lifespan, and the ability to sense demonic entities.  All those perspectives are totally foreign to me, yet all are the result of playing a human in Dragon Age.

Again, it's the BACKGROUND that makes it interesting, not the race itself.  If Elves weren't written to have a unique history and culture that marked their elvishness, they would for all intents and purposes BE human.  Same with the dwarves, etc.

This! So much this! ^^^^^^^^

Wish people would understand that but I am not holding out any hope.

I'll probably play a Qunari first, just for the novelty of it, but I intend to do a few playthroughs with each race/gender.

Human will be the most popular selection I'm guessing. Though Qunari might be a close second.

That's the thing, why should the default always be human? Why can't they be elf, dwarf,or qunari? And most people who play as the default human do so because they expect it and it is considered to be the norm.

You seem to be saying that if we had a different default, these people would just change it back to human.

Well of course, the people who prefer humans would still pick humans.

But wouldn't it be interesting. To see if changing the defaul actually changes anything? It seems like very little effort for a lot of interesting data.

Even more interesting would be if you could somehow program the game to randomly pick a default. The data you could collect from that!

Nope.

Female Elf Mage (probably Dalish if possible) is always first.

I dislike the Dwarven Culture, so I won't be playing them.  As for the other races, it'll be depending on background info.

Nope. My first playthrough will be as a female human mage. And after that as a dwarf.
I'm not a big fan of the Qun or the Qunari. I'll probably give it a try on a later playthrough, but not to start off with.

I'll see how they turn out, put I have little sympathy or interest for the Qun / Qunari / qunari in general, so I very much doubt it atm.

I really liked playing as an elven mage in Origins so I think my first playthrough in Inquisition will be an elven mage as well. However, I will probably use the CC to check out the other races and what different customisation options there are for them all before I start my first playthrough.

I ALWAYS play different then human in a game if i can. Its different if the game is good, and when i play in a fantasy worl i don't really wan't to make an avatar of myself. And yes, my first playthrough in DA:I is gonna be qunari (female mage). Simply because according to the lore that is the worst possible thing you can be to anyone everywhere. But in bioware games extra races also makes for more replayability, even if the changes are small, they make the experience different, and you immerse yourself more, and diffrently from race to race. So many races is the reason for me playing through origins 12+ times.

Nope, my first character will be human. I'll play the other races in future playthroughs but in general I tend to always play human characters.

I'll surely create a Quanri PC, but first, i will create a female Elf rogue. maybe an archer, just to change a little, than depending on the mood, a female warrior Qunari or Dwarf. still uncertain. than an elf mage. maybe some time later, a dwarf or a Qunari. If there is a elf blooded human, maybe I would try one, but I doubt.

I usually don't like play a human in fantasy games. I usually find them too little exotic, and there are already so many games in wich the protagonist is human (usually male. I hope for more games with female protagonist.) and I'm quite tired of it.

and in the DA setting, humans are quite dull. are the most dominant race. the most populous, and have a religion/background very similar to the european Christians. I can't find that very interesting, are quite flashed out as the "default".
probably I would like much more the humans in DA, if chasind or tevinter background where possible.

I have a theory about the qunari PC (and I'm sure I'm not the only one). I'm betting we're a foundling child that was taken in, so we are pretty much separate from qunari culture. In fact, that could be filled by all races, though I'm not sure they would do that.
