So I guess everyone'll just play as a Qunari as soon as the game's released...

The classic human 20-30 something white straight male is a lazy default choice especially if the game offers character creation.I'm not singling anyone who likes playing as those sorts of character but most people always go with the default because they are subconciously used to it.I wonder what would happen if Bioware made the default a elf or qunari because that will probaly skew the results.Herr Uhl wrote...
Why are you so hellbent on calling anyone playing a human male newbies? I've seen you do this in several threads.cjones91 wrote...
Again those people will be newbies,I imagine a good number of people will be playing the other races.Herr Uhl wrote...
Considering how it usually is, a majority will play human male.
Some people enjoy human male. Leave it at that rather than denigrating them as lazy noobs.

Yeah, Tallis is a Qunari and a warrior, what is with that? lol
She's a spy/assassin in a secretive order called Ben-Hassrath.
Not a warrior

If they skipped the CC in Origins, I assume they'll do the same for DA:I, and you'll still have few people playing non-humans.cjones91 wrote...
But how many people just skipped the CC and went with the default human male noble origin? This is why I don't trust stats because there are always other factors that may be at work.Maria Caliban wrote...

Only 5% of DA:O players picked a dwarven origin.

Elf + human = human
Elf + dwarf = dwarf
Elf + qunari = qunari

Wait elves are too alien but qunari aren't?
Me, assuming I get the game I intend to start with a human or elf and save something as exotic as qunari for a later playthrough
The elves in DA2 are aliens from another planet while the Qunari are just tall, muscular humans with horns...And the elves were too ugly...in my worthless humble opinion

And now it's looking the other way around, with elves being more human-like and "Qunari" being more beastlike. The males anyway. Females will be grey humans with horns though.

It's because most newbies see other games with the classic 20-30 something male and they assume that is the norm,so when a game like DAO came out most players just picked what they assumed was the correct choice.sandalisthemaker wrote...

They're going to be much more popular than elves or dwarves and probably be picked as often as those two races were combined in DA:O. And BioWare will scratch its head and wonder why the qunari are so popular, but the reason is simple: they are taller and more muscular than humans.cjones91 wrote...

Why anyone would skip the CC and keep that god awful default male human face is beyond me.

Yeah, but anyone with eyes can see that they have options to change facial features at the very least.
The default male human was an eyesore, while the default female human was clasically pretty. No surprise there.

Well there's usually a psuedo-canon love interest that is usually female, for example, Isabela or Liara. And the default PC is human male, always. (That's somewhat changing with DA:I, bless them.)

I'm thinking elf or human for first playthrough, leaning human still, possibly mage, but if the elf mage is forced to be dalish then human mage it'll be first. Could change mind as more info gets released....
Bah I say to those who dismiss the human majority because of "newbies," humans are just the bestest!

IDK. The devs probably created the Ben-Hassrath order conveniently at the time of the DLC to justify Tallis's existence.

Simple, give the character a background where he's married and has kids, and that he's been a part of a movement that oppresses the gays and lesbians

Human numbers will drop slightly because previously humans were the tallest, biggest race and now they're not.Dave of Canada wrote...
It'll probably be around the same popularity as elves because they're a slightly modified human, whether it'll steal from the elven spotlight remains to be seen. Humans numbers will remain the same.

As for myself, I'll play as an elf mage the first time, and either a dwarf and qunari the second time. But if the game turna out to be good I'll do at least two playthroughs for every race.
