Well Each Race will play a Role for me

Human Mage : He/ She will finally prove Mages are meant to be respected.

Elf Rogue : Kinda going for a former assassin that has a chance to redeem themselves.

Dwarf Sword and Sheild : If Possible A former Hero from the Deep Roads that here to curve stomp demons and Drink Ale. :P

Qunari Two Handed : Former member of the Qun that has converted to believing in the maker and has trained to become the first Kossith Templar and help rid the world of Magic and demons.

Am I the only one who thinks Qunari rogue is an odd concept?

Are you really gonna have some huge muscled hulk with bigass horns sneak around?

Not having human male as default might also increase the chance of the game being played twice - even if someone decides "nah, I like male humans", they might be more aware of the alternative. They might even enjoy their choice to play as a human more if it's more of a deliberate choice.

No, you're not alone. Seems weird to me, too. Although it might work out fine for a female character.

No plans to play as qunari as soon as the game releases.

Probably not ever, in fact.

I reiterate my earlier suggestion that BioWare could improve the quality of the feedback data by randomising the default.

If the default were evenly distributed across all races, then we'd get meaningful data about player preferences.

Did you never play a strength-based Rogue in DAO?

No, I have not.

But they do not seem like the sneaky type. Prima Facie.

Based on the comments, I'm going to guess most people don't agree with the OP.

I'll play a "Qunari," sure, but elves always come first for me.

Great point. Man, that was a great moment.

Sten goes on at length about the class/profession system within the Qun. I'd find it more unbelievable that they wouldn't  have trained and deadly rogues.

This "qunari are too big to be rogues" business sounds just as silly to me as saying something like "humans have to be mages." Let's just make all dwarves rogues since short apparently=stealthy. Image IPB

Will be disappointed to play a qunari and not be able to pelt enemies with spears a la Hawke and Aveline's escape from the compound. But nothing's perfect, right?

I definitely plan on playing as a Qunari mage first, elf and dwarf Inquisitors right after that. I don't like playing as a human characters, which is why I'm happy the race selections are back. :D

They're going to be much more popular than elves or dwarves and probably be picked as often as those two races were combined in DA:O. And BioWare will scratch its head and wonder why the qunari are so popular, but the reason is simple: they are taller and more muscular than humans.

This has been my speculation as well.

That is possible.

It is also probable that the choice of race is not just tied to default but also to other things.

In DA:O the human was a noble and could assume the throne.
For DA:O the cinematic trailers were all a human warden.

Would the numbers have been different if the human had been a commoner and the trailer warden would have been an elf or dwarf instead?

Say the Inquistor trailer shows a mixture of male and female inquisitors of different races - would that skew the data to be more random?

Why would anyone want to play as a human in such an amazing fantasy world?

Because you get to be queen.

Or because a human head of the Inquisition makes more sense to you given the setting.

Or because the choice is more like human, scrawny human, really short human, and you have no interest in playing someone who looks like they could be punted across the street.

I doubt metagaming from the knowledge of being able to assume the throne is a deciding factor for the vast majority of people who start the game (most of whom never finish). As far as trailers go, they could solve that hypothetically by not showing the Inquisitor in promotional material. WoW doesn't have a protagonist (does it?) and they still make the hypest trailers.

It depends.

A) Can I romance Varric?
B) Can I romance Varric?
C) Can I romance Varric?
