I'm actually going to be very tactical with the first race.

Knowing there's going to be a hunger at Bioware to understand the effect of reintroducing the different races, I'm going to do an anything-but-human first playthrough first, to make sure at least one more tick on the "didn't only play human" bar happens.

Judging from appearance only? Elf or Qunari. But if human or dwarf would have more interesting origin, then by all means, I'll consider choosing one of them.

I was going to say "elf," but then realized I already have an elf hero in my canon from DA:O. Somehow it feels wrong to do that again.

Since humans dominate the scene, I don't feel the same problem with playing as a human, though.

So, I'll go human, most likely. If I can reasonably envision a qunari or dwarf hero closing out the story, though, I could change my mind. *edit* ... actually, my story-senses are now tingling in favor of a female dwarf. I'll go with that, then!

 Probably Human. I find it easier to ease into roleplay if I just make pretty much me.
What I learn through that playthrough will help me decide on what I want my "canon" playthrough to be.

I'm curious as well if race metadata or telemetry will be collected with Inquisition as it was with Origins.  I enjoy playing elves, for example, and wonder if such data will be looked at for future games.  It's early days but I'd personally love to see full race options continue in the franchise.
