I surprised my self by ending up making this choice in my last playthrough. It wasn't what I'd planned, but when it came to the moment, it just played out that way. Wow. Sad. And what a bitter-sweet ending. Good for Fereldan and duty, very bad for happiness for Alistair and the PC. Not only that, but my PC almost messed up the battle at Redcliffe after the meet by being distracted, not paying attention to the party, and launching herself at everything dangerous she could sink her sword into with no regard for staying alive. Poor girl. One sees why it's dangerous for soldiers to fraternize.
All the remaining quests were entirely forgotten in a sudden focus to finish the job, too. There was no intention to stay in Denerim, but duty won out on that,too. I'm kind of depressed, I must admit.
