The new Shadow Warrior looks awesome!

no bull**** weapon carry limit. Weapon can be upgraded from being awesome to being freaking super duper awesome. The Katana is a kick ass weapon and can be pretty useful and powerful. No **** hide behind cover and regen health. None of the aim down sights, return to old school shooters where you just aim and blast.
Negative: the humour has been watered down due to political correctness, which I fail to see why it was needed. People say it was racist, I don't see that at all. In fact I have a hard time remembering the last time a western developer made an Asian hero kicking ass and blowing everything up. The only other games that spring to mind is Sleeping Dogs and Jade Empire. I'm just going to chalk that down to a young Lo Wang not being as manly as the older Lo Wang.
Unknown: the length of the game and whether or not it's going to be constantly interrupted by stupid scripted events and cutscenes cause of some BS story. No one cares about the story in a Shadow Warrior game. You got the bad guy, bla bla bla, now kill. That should be it.
There won't be any multiplayer though, so it points to be a pretty long singleplayer game, so let's wait and see.
Trailers are here. and here.

Got it pre-ordered. FWH knows old school shooters and this looks like a blend of Hard Reset, PainKiller and Bullet Storm, which is a good thing. As for it being politically correct, don't worry. They have a lead writer from CDPR on board. From the previews I've seen the humor is solid and not toned down.

Always tricky messing with an established IP though.

No offence, but if playing the game means being forced to follow a story through constant scripted events and cutscenes, then I'm not going to be a happy camper. I can live with an intro story and maybe and end story, but I think you'll agree that a lot of the great old fps games had a tagged on story just for the hell, cause they knew what people really wanted was to shoot stuff. Doom and Quake even poked fun at their own story (or lack of it).
My concern is, that the story, no matter how well it's done, is that it doesn't interrupt the games flow. When I'm killing enemies left and right, blowing them up and slicing them with the katana, I don't want to be interrupted by some scripted forced event related to a story.
I have pre-ordered the game, cause even if I'm wrong in regards to the cutscenes and stories, it's still a far better alternative game than most of the stupid fps games out there, where you can only carry two weapons that are nearly identical to other weapons.

For some reason people are cool with story moments in slashers like God of War, Heavenly Sword or Devil May Cry... but it's a "no no" when pretty much the same thing has a first person perspective

Well... Shadow Warrior is a fast game, and full of hectic combat. Your character can move really fast so it's hard to tackle pacing with those features in mind (as he easilly triggers combat after combat, and levels are built around fighting, rather than exploration and vistas). We use story moments to slow the pace down every now and then, and put some context around what's being done. I believe it does not interrupt the mayhem. It provides the game with a sort of pulse that is very hard to achieve otherwise.

It's the "Dakka dakka dakka" effect.

Hey Jan! Good to see you again. I got a kick out of Hoji's banter in the preview footage I saw, especially his take on the 'one'.
FWH and Devolver took considerable risk with this particular IP, it's kinda unknown and those gamers who remember it fondly don't want to see it as re-imagined. But after Hard Reset I was ready for another irrevrent balls-out shooter. I hope it does well.

So does everyone else who's a PC fps fan. I think it will though, every impression so far has been positive and if it's promoted right it should hopefully break the 2 million mark.

Also, you were wondering about length. It will be a short game, priced mid-range. This seems to be FWH's business stratgey. They got criticized for it as some people played it on easy, beat it in 8 hours, and felt robbed. But the game had great replay value. I poured well over 100 hours into it.

Better safe than sorry. Remember how DNF's humor was received?
Still, I'd like to see some risks taken...

I'm more concerned with gameplay here. I'm sure we'll get plenty of easter eggs and such, but this type of game rides on the combat, not the story.
