It was somewhat of an act. That was the whole point of me pointing out her catharsis at the end. Her cold and indifferent attitude towards Shepard is absolutely an act. That's not bad writing at all.

And no. We see a reaction from Liara. You're automatically assuming we're seeing Liara at her worst when you have no justification for doing so. In fact, given Tali's comment after Thessia that Liara is feeling worse than after Noveria, quite the opposite.

Except LotSB DLC is not the last we see of "badass!Liara." ME3 happens to be full of it as well before Thessia happens.

Surely you didn't miss her into on Mars. She has some of those moments on Sur'Kesh as well (with Javik).

So... no, it's not a LotSB storyline of inner-struggle. It's inconsistent characterization.

Uh, no. It's characters reacting differently in different situations. Are you telling me a 'badass' character can never be scared?

You're equating 'badass' with Liara being cold and unconcerned. Which is nonsense. Liara sheds the cold and unconcerned attitude. Not the badassness.

Also, do I need to point out that even on Thessia, Liara indulgeges in gallows humor here and there?

Did someone say Liara already?

Just kidding. I don't mind her actually, and wouldn't slap her. I'd rather just not play LotSB. She makes other characters look bad and it makes things easier on me to just avoid it. It's mostly a DLC for Liara fans. I'll let them have their fun and just avoid it, as I've done on my last few characters.

Liara can be annoying at times, but wanting to slap her because she is sympathetic to you is disgusting, IMHO.

How does she make other characters look bad?

Jack can't levitate like Liara does when she goes after Vasir. All squad members (even Grunt!!!) get taken out by a ****ing table at the last fight, so people like you can have your speshul Cinematic moment with Liara, whereby you spoon her from behind, and take out the Shadow Broker together. It's fan service, man. And like I said, I'm willing to let you have your fun. I'd rather just avoid it.

It might be good for you, and a decently done DLC, but it's not well integrated to the varying types of players and characters. It's specifically for certain fans.

Don't take offense at it. It is what it is. Besides, I'm the one getting gyped here. Not you. You don't need to defend it. You already won. ;) I have a DLC I paid for and don't bother playing anymore. You got your money's worth. Be happy with that. Just don't try to get me to like it too.

The numbers are with me. Lair of the Shadow Broker is overwhelmingly considered either the best or second best DLC of the series. This idea that most fans were 'gyped' is a delusion. It very clearly appealed to a great deal of players.

I never said anything about "most fans". Ask me if I give a **** about most fans. I only care about me.

Like I said, you won. You don't need to say that it's a good DLC. There's no reason to be defensive. It's merely one person's opinion. Not the end of the world for you.

We've seen this kind of argument on the board before. Anyone else have an urge to edit this line of posts and substitute "the ending"  and "awful"  for "LotSB" and  "best DLC"? (David, aren't you on the other side when we're talking about the ending?)

If you're speaking for yourself and only yourself, you need to avoid making statements like "it's not well integrated to the varying types of players and characters. It's specifically for certain fans."

You see, saying that something is 'only for certain fans' means it's not for the majority. Which means you're making proclamations of what players like and don't like. Which means you clearly aren't speaking only for yourself at all, aren't you?

Can't a character be a badass sometimes, and non-badass other times? I'm not sure I'd call this inconsistent -- even Jack Bauer broke down and cried once or twice, though he did snap out of it faster.

I meant it's for fans who wanted to see Liara in that light. That could still be a "majority". After all, a lot of people like Liara.

As for lack of integration, I already pointed out what I meant -- the rest of the squad is made to look like goobers there.

Yes. I'm serious. Are you claiming that all good content in every series in existence is 'fan service'? Which makes it an utterly meaningless term to begin with?

No. But this content is fanservice.

Or even worse. SuperMac pandering to his own ego.
