Yes. I'm serious. Are you claiming that all good content in every series in existence is 'fan service'? Which makes it an utterly meaningless term to begin with?

You're making up an argument I never claimed myself. I never said it wasn't good. I'm not that unfair or biased.

The fan service part is about making other characters look out of their element, and the spooning scene. Cringeworthy for some, but definitely a "service" and treat for Liara fans.

I'm very interested to hear how you imagine Lair of the Shadow Broker was "SuperMac pandering to his own ego." when he wasn't the writer. It sounds to me like any content you don't magically becomes written by Walters to you.

Is that how it works, Massively? Does it magically become written by Walters when you don't like it?

Liara definitely changed in Mac's hands. I'll say that much.

I like Drew's original geeky/awkward Liara better. And I liked that he wrote her with more options.

The only good thing about LOTSB was Tela Vesir who mocks Paragon Shepard for being a naive and ignorant buffoon about the true nature of the Spectres.

It pains me to say this, but David is actually... correct.

LotSB was written by Patrick Weekes and Liara's writer (whose name I forget); not Walters.

Anyways, I want to slap Ashley, Liara, Tali, Anderson, Hackett, the alliance, the Council, TIM, Cerberus, Garrus, Jack, Wrex, the Dalatrass (even though I fundamentally agree with her points), Joker, and quite a few others.

True that. That's the main thing I regret about avoiding the DLC. She's a great character (for what little screentime she has) and a fun fight.

Mac Walters never wrote Liara (apart from the comics). Drew created her. Patrick Weekes headed the writing team for LotSB and Sylvia Feketekuty wrote her in ME3.

I stand corrected then. I like just about everything Weekes does. Gonna still give this a thumbs down though. But that's just me. I'm not here to be controversial about it.

You know, it's posts like these that really prevent me from taking 'Renegade' players seriously. When I see people trying to legitimately argue that someone is mentally impaired for being upset at the extinction of their species, how can I possibily take that as anything but the laughable joke that it is?

Never was implying that she was mentally impaired. Her focus is just massively skewed at that point. Look at Shepard and Garrus. Their homeworlds are burning, but they both take a very pragmatic course in dealing with it. Liara seemingly panics at the beginning through to the middle of the Thessia mission. She knew this was coming. She was one of the first to even know about the cycle of extinction and the Reapers. And at the point where it mattered most, she broke down and began lashing out. This is why I wish that it was optional to take her with you to Thessia.

And the Asari were about as "extinct" as the Salarians, Humans, Turians, Volus, Hanar, and Krogan at that point. Just look at the Elcor. Little to no colony worlds, a puny Navy, and their homeworld was decimated by the Reapers near the end of the game. Only a handful seem to make it out and they go straight to the CITADEL (a place that is later usurped by the Reapers). Most likely, once the Reapers are defeated, the Drell will be close to extinction and the Elcor may be endangered for centuries.

I'm not saying that Liara's breakdown wasn't unrealistic. I was just annoyed by it and wanted to slap some sense into her...

I'm very interested to know where the you pulled LotSB out of my statement. Out of your ass is the most likely conclusion.

You must keep your head up there too. All that crap in your eyes and ears can be rather polluting. Because I never said that everything I disliked came from SuperMac either. So once again, way to assume the point that wasn't made to degrade me. It backfired.

As it so happens, not every piece of crap that I dislike comes from SuperMac. However, much of what comes from SuperMac is crap that I dislike.

I find that hard to believe..

Mac has written many of the cool seedier elements of the ME world. I don't know where he stands on Liara exactly, but I know the series would probably be worse without him. He gives it that darker 80s/90s action movie feel at times (TIM, Zaeed, Aria, etc). As much I disliked the endings and the Alliance centrism he took, I still gotta give him credit.

Huh. How incredibly convienant for you that in a discussion very clearly focused on LotSB and fan service, the statement you make refering to 'fan service' happens to not refer to LotSB as soon as someone calls you out on it.

Isn't that incredibly convienant, Massively?

T'soni--for the stupid comment on Thessia about Alliance air support

T'soni(a second time)--wants to be my friend and I want noything to do with her.

T'soni(a third time)--because I want to

Joker-for telling a better joke after the Thessia mission and for wanting a relationship with a robot

Anderson--for not going to the beam while I was fighting brutes and banshees. It was the best opportunity with the destroyer busy firing at me and not guarding the beam

Isn't it incredibly convenient David that the point in question actually didn't refer to LotSB at all?

You called me out on a false point that you made up to antagonize me with. It backfired. Now you're mad. Take a look at the statement again. Tell me where it clearly refers to LotSB at all.

Tell me David.

Also, tell me about how a discussion that is clearly about what character's the player wants to slap is about LotSB?

Or do you just like hijacking threads? You do it a lot in the DA forums.

Primarch Victus. I need the turian fleet!!!!!

That's much worse than anything Liara says about Thessia.

vs.

"My home! Shepard, my home is burning! Damn those Reapers for killing my people!"

I'll go nice and slow for you, Massively. StreetMagic and I were having a conversation about LotSB being fanservice. He said it was. I said it wasn't. You came along and said "No. But this content is fanservice."

It's very clear that you were referring to LotSB and backed off once your discovered your usual little tactic of blaming everything you don't like on a writer you don't like couldn't be true.

I'll give you that.

If it wasn't for the general quality of the trilogy as a whole, these little things would make me quit.
