What would be your reaction if Bioware announced that there wouldn't be any romances in DA:I

Romances are romances. Well-implemented ones can have a positive effect on the game's storyline and immersion factor.

Unfortunately, some people seem to place far more importance on them than is due. It seems like the romances are the only thing that matters to some players. The reasons why vary from person to person, but the overemphasis remains.

The overwhelming prominence of romance-related threads and posts in this forum alone is proof of that. You'd think at times no one cares if the game is actually good or not... just as long as people get their precious romances.

I would hope this game, should it be a worthy entry in the DA franchise, would still perform well even if it had no romances... but I'm not so sure that would be the case. I think it might actually mar sales because so many people obsess over that aspect of Bioware's games.

That's an ill precedent to be setting IMHO.

I agree. Ride to Hell had a much more direct yet mature take on romance.

Time has indeed permitted these romances. The dev team is actually done with everything else in the game and worked on these 9 romances last. They'll be fleshing them out for the next few months until the game is gold. Isn't that great!?
