If it sacrifices the quality of the rest of the game, it affects me.

Think about all that time spent on DA2's romances, redirected at polishing its other exceedingly rough areas.

What evidence do you have that attention was given to romance over other aspects of the game? Were you actually privy to the devleopment process?

No, but I was privy to what Dragon Age 2 had and didn't have.  Isn't that enough?

If romance was removed, who says those resources/time would be spent on other aspects of the game? They might not get spent at all.

... are you serious? You think they'd just run down the clock and not polish the game further if they had the spare time and resources?

So... you care that much about David to continue arguing with him for that long? #ICan't

Fine.
Even if he was dead serious, he represents a tiny minority of the people who enjoy the romance content.
People here seem to think all romance fans are like that, or want to make them out to be like that.

Anyways, this. Peace, hoes.

Believe me. He is for real. I'm breaking my rather sardonic facade to tell you that this guy has legitimate problems that need to be addressed by a mental health professional.

You are all like that. Don't deny it.

Whatev.
You just proved my point is all.

Tbf Bioware started this whole Romances thing if they had never done that we would all just be having the same discussion about silly mage hats.

It all started with Jade Empire. That was when the seed of mass mulitple romance options and sexy cutscenes was planted (BG2 not withstanding, since they fell into have one romance integrated into the story - hi Aribeth and Bastila).

Our doom began with a game that was relatively little-played and little-recognized in the Bioware catalog. We were all fools.

Why do people on either side of the matter care enough to write 19 (Possibly 20 by the time I post this) pages about it?

I sorta posed that question on page 17.  Which was only a few minutes ago.

But this is the BSN, peopel tend to freak out over the what if's and the stuff that they think they deserve!  It's almost as if Arkham Asylum went viral.

I see no evidence that he is a "tiny minority"  I see little to seperate him from many others

There's no evidence that he isn't a tiny minority.  BSN does not equal the entirety of the DA and ME fanbase.

If BW announced that there wouldn't be any romances I'd give them a standing ovation for their testicular fortitude andit would symbolize another step in the right direction to go with more dev time and not numbering the title as to distance the game from the camel dung that was DA2.

Do you think romances will eventually lead to... the end? :?

I would have no problem with no romances in the game, because the resources could be spend to more important things, like the main plot.

They started the romance content in the first place.
They obviously like including it as part of their games.

In my experience, most romance die hards act similarly for their chosen character

Unfortunately, some people seem to place far more importance on them than is due. It seems like the romances are the only thing that matters to some players.

And I never understand why that fact matters to other people.

Who cares if they like romace?  Who cares if the romaces are the only reason some people play the games?

How does it affect you?

Because there's far more to these games than romances... things that should take precedence among players, but are instead overshadowed by the desire for custom-tailored romances to tickle peoples' shallow fancies.

I don't like the precendent that sets for gamers or developers.

That's your opinion though.
You want Bioware to cater to things you like, and ignore the things that other people like

There is a tremendous irony in the statement you just made, but I'll let it go.

What I want is for Bioware to get back on track and put out a worthy follow-up to DA:O. Romances are a bit low on the list as far as that goes, or so I'd hope.

I am hardly the only one who thinks that, although you might not believe it if you show up to this forum on a given day when the place is overrun with threads asking for so-and-so to be romanceable.

Are we just going to pretend that Dragon age couldn't benefit from more time? How about how romances were complete while other arcs were not? Are we doing that now?

It would be quite disappointing, but I wouldn't really care all that much in the long run if it's otherwise stellar.

That's not how media development works. Generally speaking, the developer goes to the publisher and says "We want to include feature XYZ and here's why we think you should give us the money for it."

The publisher says "That is a convincing argument, you can has dis moneez" or, alternatively "That is not a convincing argument, we keep dis moneez".

If the developer decides to then cut that feature, they do not get to just keep the money and spend it on whatever the hell they like. That money doesn't belong to them. It belongs to the publisher.

What shorts, she wears a top and a pair of spankies.  I think her thigh highs are the biggest pieces of cloth on her body.

Besides disappointment that they would yet again be removing features in an attempt to broaden their audience?

Removing romances could do a lot of things, but I don't think it would make a lick of difference in broading the audience.

Or, just thinking out loud here, they might consider justifying using money that would have gone into the romances to instead enhance feature XYZ.
