Let's just get a headcount here. How many people here think that players romance characters for the primary purpose of watching a 15 second sex scene?
Also, I genuinely would like someone to explain to me why exactly the romance with Garrus is considered one of the most satisfying in Mass Effect. There's no sex scenes at all. Just fades to black.
It's called "implications."
They are often more powerful than observations.
Well, sometimes things you see point you towards a certain conclusion without having a direct observation of that conclusion. Do you have to see something firsthand to believe it accurate?
According to the Book of the Messiah, thst is a must for heroic gaming. Motivations should not have these so called implications, players should know everything up front.

Microtransactioned romances would be hilarious.
And profitable.
I'm just saying.
"Oh inquistor...we can't be together..."
"But I've done all your loyalty quests, talked to you every time we went back to camp, and I've showered you with countless gifts. What more could you possibly want?"
"How many Bioware points do you have?"

If the primary purpose of romance was sex, then Shiara the consort would be one the most popular characters in Mass Effect. Her sex scene is as intimate as many of the others.
She isn't popular. She isn't even in the top several dozen. That should be ample proof that sex is not the primary motivator behind players who romance characters.
Its clearly all about dat heroism and characterization

He makes no points, he said the same **** twice. "Nobody really needs any aspect of gaming"? Why the hell is he playing games if he's gonna go off claiming that because he can't live without romances?
Romance is no less valuable than any other aspect of the game, the entire idea behind a "game" is that it is a piece of entertainment.
If Plaintiff and others like myself find romances entertaining in games too, why does it have to be elevated as more "unecessary" when the very nature of video games themselves are unecessary entertainment?

What is it about these threads that brings out the douche in everyone?
Guys who come in here to proselytize their idea's of a perfect video game that should be in a video game that they criticize despite never playing, and citing another game (as well as constantly referring to it) in a forum that isn't about that game.
Yeah, pretty much that. It's like watching 'Plan 9 From Outer Space'. You read the statements, and you can't help but shut down the logic and reasoning portion of your brain.

I think they're just very feeble minded posters who reflexively disagree with the community and with BioWare and just don't even bother with this sort of logic at all. It just sifts their through head like water.

I play games because they are entertaining. I don't make stupid claims about what is or is not "needed" in videogames because I know the only reason for putting anything in a game is to make it more entertaining. I'm not a hypocrite who tells others they should abandon their wants while parading my own around as "necessities".alliance commander wrote...

Nope. Just the usual hijack of "[Ambiguous comment with a controversial stance.]" and then ten other people and their mother's who just can't help themselves from responding. Trolls come in different shades, guise.
