Will the Inquisitor's voice affect which race YOU pick?

There are a lot of "what race/class/gender will you play?" threads floating around, so I wanted to get people's thoughts on this. Assuming(!! and you know what they say about folks who assume...) that there will be one voice actor for male characters and one for females, will that affect what race you choose to play as in DA:I?

I mean, I'd like to play a dwarf or qunari first, but if there's some serious vocal dissonance going on I might have to rethink that. Not that a dwarf or a qunari can't sound similar to a human or an elf (obviously), but I'm just curious if this is on anyone else's mind.

Well, I believe that was asked at PAX, and the answer was, "We don't want to reveal that just yet"

not regarding race it won't for me, i can look past that as i have heard high pitched dwarves (sandal) and qunari seem to be all over the spectrum in voice pitch. That said if they go for the multiple voices for a protagonist i hope the qunquisitor has a voice similar to the arishok and the dwarfquisitor has a deep voice as well.

No. Nothing's going to keep me from choosing dwarf. It is known.

Yes. If Jennifer Hale (femShep) is voicing any of the female Inquisitors, I'm not playing that particular race. I don't care if its my all time favorite race ever, I do NOT want to hear her voice coming out of my character.

Will you only play as a male then if she's the only voice actor for female inquisitors?

Voice doesn't affect race for me.. sure, it might be odd at first but I'll eventually get used to it. The only thing an annoying VA would do is make me less likely to do another playthrough. But if the game is good, I can put up with it. I'm optimistic that we'll have options.

If the VA sounds horribly stupid, yes.

Otherwise, no.

Image IPB I like the way you think.

I'm really just fretting because I want to like whoever the VA is, but since that information's not disclosed yet I'm wringing my hands... kinda pointless, really, but there you have it.

I just can't really conceptualize my PC like a lot of people are doing if I don't know how they're supposed to sound. And I don't want to have all sorts of expectations floating around in my head for what they should sound like if they're going to sound totally different. I envy the folks who can do so, lol, but it's waaaaay too early and we have too little information for me to be able to do that.

Probably. And later probably turn on subtitles and turn the volume setting for voices all the way down. I just hope that she's not voicing any of the inquisitors.

Well Mike Laidlaw stated in the GI podcast that they are probably not gonna have the same voice for every race, be it male or female. So odds are (it's not confirmed, btw!) we'll get different voices depending on race. And gender of course.

So Jennifer Hale will only be the female Qunari.

If Laura Bailey voices anything I probably won't play anything but that race. I highly doubt Laura Bailey is the VA for anyone in DAI, though.

And I saw Jennifer Hale's name when I was scanning the thread and... while I like her as Shepard I really can't see her as anything but Shepard at this point so that would be sort of awkward if she were VAing a character in DAI. She is the VA for a female Trooper in SWTOR and it's just so weird to hear Shepard's voice coming out of my tiny green Mirialan.

What'd she do that you like her so much?

Possibly. I just could not do many male Hawke playthroughs just because the voice never seemed to fit the face I made.

Wha- really? Image IPB I didn't know that.

If they do go with multiple voice actors, I think I'd like it best if we could choose which one fits our Inquisitor rather than being stuck with one because you're an elf/dwarf/whatever, though.

Maybe. I am very picky about voices, specifically voices matching faces and expressions. Sometimes voices just don't sync with the character model (something I've encountered a bit in SWTOR). So yeah, if there is anything particularly jarring, this will be a determining factor to which race I choose.

I'm predicting there will be four voices:
*Male human and elf
*Female human and elf
*Male dwarf and Qunari
*Female dwarf and Qunari

I keep seeing all this Jennifer Hale stuff. Has she been confirmed? Or has there been any leak of some kind to give people the impression that she's voicing a character? Because I highly doubt Bioware would use the same VA as the main protag for two of their games....

Male Hawke voice was real strange.... but I put up with it. Also, there was one Elf voice in Origins, I think "suave", that made some really horrifying sounds in combat. I remade that character.
