I tend to prefer names that sound appropriate to the character's personal and cultural background, and preferably with a certain Celtic or High Germanic flavor; I end up putting far more effort into my characters' names than is probably worth it.

You're not the only one. I lose a lot of times during the CC for choosing the names of my characters.

That's what my DAO character was called.
That's what my skyrim character was called.
That's what my DA2 character was called.
That's what my BG character was called.
That's what my WoW character was called.
That's what my Fallout character was called.
This is what my first DAI character will be called.
My Mass Effect character was called Hellspawn.

I'm thinking I'll name my male Qunari inquisitor "Widow Maker" though. It's just about the most badass name ever imo.
