Next MP should just have a solo mode where you choose your objectives -- assuming, anyway, that ME4 is similar to this. That way we can all be on the same page.

OT though, nice video, I've got to try this next time I take out my novaguard.

That's the problem of the game. For example, I modded the ini file so I have a separate button for interactions (reviving, devices etc) so I don't have to experience the associated "one button for everything" crap. I don't see what's wrong with that. In my book the changes the OP make are on the same level: we both removed / reduced the likelihood we get trolled by stupid game mechanics.

Well yeah, no kidding.  Ever since we got good enough at gold to not wipe as a team any additional constraints have been personal objectives.  Soloing at all is a personal objective.  Soloing in a time challenge is a personal objective.  If you don't consider this solo noteworthy for this reason, fine, but quite a few other people who solo speedrun do.  

I personally don't care for any kind of bragging, but I don't hold anything against this or any other solo. I made a statement which sparked a debate about the definition of cheating. I never said that the solo was illegitimate or anything like that.

Also, don't take things out of context.

All programing exists as a set of rules and references for a computer to follow. The game itself defines what the rules are, it just enforces them in the background.

A computer only executes commands. Those who created those commands are the only ones to say who cheats or not. Everything else is basically personal opinion only. The only stuff that's been know to be considered cheating are the things Bioware/EA used to ban people. AFAIK what the OP did has never resulted in a ban. One remains innocent until proven guilty, right?

It is cheating because you know for certain they you won't get certain objectives but tbh I don't care if you say upfront what you did . Plus I think other things are far worse ( like rolling out of hack circle so that you don't need to stay there to hack , or running with pizza ).

Anyone who says this is not advantageous is just delusional. Soloing is as much a marathon as it is a sprint. You have to do dozens of tries to get the perfect solo captured on tape and after several tries the performance also drops due to mental fatigue. This method of choosing the easy objectives eliminates the marathon part of the solo thus the decrease in performance due to loss of mental stamina is no longer a factor.

Just tried the build, scored 150k in a Gold match that wasn't U/U.

Definitely my new go-to Novaguard build.

It shouldn't be in first place.

It isn't cheating because game can produce same results.
Pick the one you like the better.

I guess it is OK for the cool kids to modify annoying stuff or make the game more fun and do solos and make videos and claim it is NOT advantageous. But when I do similar stuff, it is evil and cheating. I approve what you did but if you want me to say it is NOT advantageous then I would be lieing. It is advantageous but not outright cheating.

I should add - nice time for using a different set up. Sirian did a ~16 minute nova guard with Talon and no AC, but pretty sure he used the missiles he had. I think you could definitely get this under 20 if you wanted, especially with dem choice objectives

Yeah sorry my monitor is from the first World War probably. In defense of Caineighis, he probably didn't know or even suspect that i have a 4:3 monitor XD

Thanks anyway. And yeah, SIrian's run is with missiles, and he's using a Talon. A Talon is surely a much better setup for the Novaguard, and the one I usually run. But the Claymore's moar fun, ha! This was not meant to be an attempt at a good time, it just turned out to be decently fast

Of course it's a real advantage RJ, otherwise no-one would do it. Like Deerber wrote earlier it saves a lot of time grinding for good objectives, plus you won't waste consumables on runs that failed due to bad objective waves.

This kind of hack doesn't bother me but trying to say it gives no advantage is just daft.

Yeah I see your point Cato, and agree. But it's advantageus in a way that I, personally, don't mind, as I explained in a post above.

Haha I knew I shouldn't have said that before going to bed. You took it personally. Oh well, let me explain.

First, let's settle this: I don't have any problem with you. I merely think that your concept of score and what's important in this game is flawed, and that sometimes you hardly make any sense on this forum. But there are worse problems in this world, trust me 

And, even though you might have not noticed, I never ever called you a cheater. Because, even though what you do is fundamentally different from what I do in my eyes (because it allows you to do stuff that you wouldn't be able to do otherwise), I still don't mind it much so long as you keep it to yourself. Since I never saw you bragging about something you did with your hacked game, it's fine for me. It's your game after all, you can do as you please.*

So don't worry and don't take it personally. What I said was merely refered to what you said. Because seriously... Stamina? What the hell are you talking about? This is not a sport nor a competition, man. It's a game. Nothing more, nothing less than a game.

Dammit, I could have been trying this solo once/day for the last year or so... Would that make me a cheater? Because I would avoid the mental fatigue that way, too! Sooo... If I don't try solos one after the other I'm a cheater?

C'mon, that doesn't make any sense

well I still have more than double your playing time even though I've almost completely stopped playing for the past 4 months.... you end up trying a lot of things with that kind of time and claymore novaguard isn't even that out there
