So that is okay but DA:O was somehow "wrong"? I suppose double standards are acceptable for those so long
oppressed by the cruel video game industry like yourself.

And here we find ourselves coming full circle: give people an inch, and they'll take a mile.

Never have I seen such a shameless sense of entitlement.

Pretty much. The romances went from being some extra to BSN having it's cult of the romance expect 1:1 ratios of sexuality and gender. Reason? "Fairness", which really isn't a reason for anything, and definitely not something that will have any positive impact on the quality of a game. But if you don't worship at the alter of "fairness" you're privileged and thus your opinion is invalid.

Add in some self-pity about how the video game industry is so bigoted, rinse, and repeat.[/quote]
Thank you for that comment! It validates and explains my previous post! :)

This thread proves why we can't have nice things in our romances. Most everyone is an opinionated douche, who wants everything, and only knows how to argue when things don't go their way. Thus, BioWare just gave up and made everyone bi 'cept Sebastian (who is the one bright spot in the DA2 romances... ironically, I never romanced him). If BioWare had their way, we might actually get some decent choices for romances. But no, instead we get the same equality crap.

What is the point of equality, is everyone is the same? May as well make all the romance-capable characters be bisexual humans. How can we have equality, if everyone/thing is the same? This is why I am not too fond of inter-racial offspring IRL, but that is entirely off-topic.

We can't have everything, which is why in many games, it is better to specialise in one area, rather than trying to do every possible combat style. If romances were specific, the game would be better for it.

????????????? wow you are kinda gross with that

He is right. Children with a black and a white parent end up with stripes. They get picked on all the time!

its even worse when he has a kid, Quad stripes!

Okay, now this thread needs to be locked.  This is offensive and very off topic.

Er... I'm a straight male, and I pretty much epically boned made-love-to every character, male female, alien, whathaveyou in DA:O and Mass Effect 2.

I don't recall counting the number of straight, gay, or bi characters in any of the games. Or caring.

I prefer a character to be created whole and have real qualities, not a sexuality that is contrived to placate some focus group.

I had sex with Zevran and Thane because they were interesting, not because I was sexually attracted to them. It's a video game, after all.

Counting Seb is kind of like counting Allers as a LI though. You can count it but...do you even get an achievement for romancing him?

Not really. Seb was a companion cut to be dlc, his romance was just diffrent. You still had alot of flirting with him, two romance paths which ended up diffrnetly. Just because he's dlc or the sex scene is not showen means very very little.

Seb has plenty of flaws compared to the actual LIs.

- No love scene
- No comfort scene after All that remains
- You get him later than you get any other LI

You can't start the romance with Isabela until act 2, which is when you get Seb.

Also while the first two are true, he still has a romance good bye like all the other Lis.

It seems I forgot to add this part of the cycle where the "victims" cry bigotry.

Nobody "deserves" anything as far as romances are concerned. There is just no sense behind people crying that DA:O was "unfair" or thinking that they must have one gay LI for every straight LI.

It's a phrase illustrating that when you show charity to someone, they will inevitably want more and will continue to take advantage of your good graces for as long as you allow it.

Granted, that is not always the case, but it certainly is the case here.

So if they took out all the romances for straight characters in the next game, you wouldn't care?

True enough.

He also lacks conflict with other characters since so much as flirting with someone else disengages his romance.

But honestly if there was a female version of Seb instead of the male one...I wouldn't care. (Unlike ME3 the balance is so utterly RIDCULOUS that a romance lite feels like a insult).

Does he react to you walking off with Zev?

Yawn.  We've been through this before and you will never understand because you are always on the receiving end of the benefit.  You get more options so, of course, it's not a problem for you.  There's no purpose in continuing this conversation because you aren't open to hearing the other side of the  argument, which I tried very hard to do the other day.
