Are we having a discussion here or not? Because I really have no interest in watching your little pat-a-cake game.

I think today's society is too obsessed with definitions and labels. Gay, straight, bi. These ideas are inventions of the modern world's sexual politics, not ingrained laws of nature. Sexuality is much more fluid and complicated than three labels we slap on people or adopt to identify ourselves.

No, it really isn't.

It really is.

Taking into account three options- straight, bi, and gay, even though there arguably more or at least subsets of the three, it's complicated by one major issue; what someone identifies themselves as and what they actually are aren't necessariliy the same thing.

People lie. They lie to others and they lie to themselves on every end of the spectrum. And they lie for a vareity of reasons.

And it's not even just that people lie, but also that they don't always realize the full scope of their sexuality at that stage of their lives.

Okay? And? People lie about their income. Does that mean income is fluid and complicated? No. You're income is X amount of money, and that's the end of it. People lie about their weight. Their age. None of those things are complicated.

Sexuality is a lot more psychological, and can't be justly compared to those tangible objects.

This, pretty much.

End of the day you can never really know what's going on inside someone else's head. You can never know whether they're lying about being attracted to one gender or the other, or both, or if either is subject to change.

Romances in games is still kind of new. Back in the day we didn`t get any at all. After that we got 1. So its not like straight people have experienced an abundance of romances in games either.

But straight men historically in BW's game have almost always gotten the lion's share of LIs.

It's annoying. I thought we were passed that but then ME1 and ME3 reared their ugly heads.

@Scar: Ah fair enough.

This is true. But it comes from the fact that earlier, most gamers were male. Then women started playing games more and more, and female romances got added.

Still was bullocks though. They could've at least given us someone that didn't blow as hard as Ameon. (or however you spell his crappy name). I didn't mind it so bad with Jade Empire cause Sky was okay (though he suffered from Carth Syndrome so terribly I just romanced him with a dude). And Carth and Bastila were equal (even if Carth was...CARTH).

The DA Team has been fair with the male to female LI ratio. In two games, there were 4 female LI's and 5 male LI's. That pretty fair. I'm sure it will continue to be fair.

Maybe I missed that post.  Where did someone state that?

He calls people biogot if they don't agree with him, he called me a bigot, which if you ask peopel who know me, know false on many levels.

What I mean by the bolded, is that bisexuals - like everyone else - should have to deal with what they are dealt, instead of trying to please everyone, ignoring the fact that the game is a story, not a fanfic written by the players. Bisexuals will (or at least should) be willing to choose who they romance based on the available remaining options... not just have free range.

The lore argument? Lore as in, the fact that not every person in DA agrees with everyone else. That is, the point of having characters with different opinions, is to give the story some believabilty (and somewhere to go with a story).

except the restricted LIs don't effect just bisexuals so it's baffling me why you're attempting to single them out.

As for pleasing everyone sure. That could just as easily be used as reasoning for them having all bi LIs. Why bother trying to please the people that insist on straight and gay only LIs.

There's only a handful of LIs ANYWAY. Being stuck with one option (or none if you don't like the one you got like m/m players or f/f players were stuck with in DAO) sucks.

And that means the LIs can't be for both genders...again why exactly? You don't have to agree with everyone to be attracted to both genders.

I singled them out because they will most likely accept what they are given, while those of us more rigid in our orientation, are less likely to accept it. They are more open, thus they need less attention and pandering.

DA side BW no. Maybe someone was concerned after ME3's lopsidedness?

I think it's the same reason people worry about seeing their favorite character or having their favorite gameplay feature.

It's unannounced, and it's not known yet what they're inclined to do (though we have an idea from David's comments, but those haven't been seen by everybody).

It makes no difference to me whether people are lying or not. It makes no difference whether their orientation is hidden not. What matters is that the orientation is there, and it's probably not 'fluid.'

Because for the overwhelmingly vast majority of people out of puberty, it's not fluid? It's not complicated? They're either straight, and that's it, or gay, and that's it, or bisexual, or that's it?

David go away this is the Dragon Age board not the Mass Effect board.

ME3 was developed by a different team.

It was also horrible. "Lopsidedness" in the LI ratio is hardly the only thing that should never appear in another Bioware game ever again.

True enough still BW though.

Oh you don't need to tell me I know things blew in ME3 that had nothing whatsoever to do with the romances. Hell if I made a top 50 things wrong with ME3 romance wouldn't even be on the list (well maybe the Jacob incident would be on there but otherwise).

They will always have the most options though. :P They don't have to worry about being stuck with one option to start with.
